Stuff you hate to see at Car shows

This topic is rather taboo, but we all hate to see certain things at shows. Here’s a few,

Historical Lic plates on kit cars
Plastic wire loom coveres that match something on the car
Signed parts
Stuffed animals
Jap cars with samari swords, or ninja crap.
AC all removed, except on the firewall.

What’s one that just makes you shake your head

Those weird little kid dolls that face the car with their heads down or whatever. What started that weirdness? Those are just strange to me.

Burd 03-16-2020 02:41 PM

I’ve seen cars parked on top of them.

How about 1969 Z28's with the grill Z28 badge mounted in the wrong position :frown: I say about 60% are that way.

The last 2 I believe are correct, RS and standard are in the same spot.

Burd 03-16-2020 05:01 PM

A doll on a cooler. Double.

One show, I can’t find the pic, a Ricer had a Ninja sword and a old WW2 jap Flag in his car. I was hoping a Vet would come by and kick the guy in the balls.

Models on the Aircleaner, I saw a guy slam his hood on a model of his car on a small turntable, flattened it rite out

Cars with identity crises like hitting all the details of a factory build, like stripes, decals etc..., but having tubbed, full roll cage and goofy hood.

What got me was a young kid leaned his bike against my quarter panel as he had no kickstand...dad was right there and said nothing. Left the show kinda mad.

1969 Mach 1s with front & rear spoilers and rear window louvers. None were options. If they wanted the Boss 302 look they should have bought one instead.

For Pontiac guys, it's the Buick style air cleaner decal on a totally restored engine bay.

1967/1968 Shelby GT Mustangs with the wrong rear valance and tips. Those are 1967 first design tips with a second design rear valance. Midyear during 1967 production Ford changed from the single round tip and associated rear valance to the quad tips used on the Mustang GT in an effort to save money. Then all 1968 Shelby GT Mustangs used the second design.

I thought this might be a short thread, but the more I think about it, the more I'm getting worked up about my pet peeves...

#1 Z28 hood and deck stripes on a first generation Camaro SS, or a 1968 or 69 Chevelle!
#2 a spoiler on the deck of a rear antenna first generation Camaro
#3 stripes with the wrong dimensions... especially a front nose stripe on a 1967-68 Camaro
#4 big clown-shoe wheels on an otherwise correct looking vintage musclecar.
#5 Z/28 and SS emblems on the same car... really?

Model year 2000 and up Corvettes and Mustangs hogging all the parking spots for older cars. Yeah they are nice cars but I want to see classic cars!

It is considered correct either "cast" color or black as some say they came bare.

2nd gen Camaros with rally wheels.
Of the 200k Camaros with ducted hood, seal is on incorrectly.

According to Delco Moraine paperwork, part of the assembly procedure for master cylinders is to paint them semi-gloss black. I think it's either the 7th step or the 17th step (can't remember) in the assembly. I once posted the sheet which showed it. It's over somewhere in my You Can't Make This Stuff Up! thread. Probably within the first 100 pages. It's orangish yellow so if you want to find it you can scan quickly. I believe (?) it started with the 1967 models when they changed to the dual master cylinder.

You guys have mostly covered very well some of what I hate to see at car shows, but I can add what I most hate to hear: modern or current music whether it is piped in or live where 98% of the cars are from the 50's, 60's, and '70's. I want to hear music from the eras the cars are from.

The same goes for Mopar master cylinders; those with the bail over the cover. Supposed to be painted gloss black as seen below:

https://i.postimg.cc/zBKCt3hb/5tgbn.jpg

Chrysler used two different master cylinders depending on which brakes you ordered. If it's "bolt" style like this one - no paint.
