this 1969 Yenko Dealership picture has popped up online

does not look real to me

when compared to the 1968 photo, the Yenko letters and tower don't look right and the cars look off too

----Joe,,,Look closer and you will see that the building is the same. It's just that the pics are taken from way different angles...….Bill S

The vertical "C" in Chevrolet is at the base of the "yenko" in the second pic but is much higher in the first pic. Different sides of the "yenko" tower but the positioning from the top is the same. Or it's just my eyes???

I see what you mean, but my eyes aren’t as reliable as they used to be. Would someone actually photoshop the building itself?

cheveslakr 03-24-2020 09:54 PM

And if you take the "C-H-E" in the second pic, they would fit above "Chevrolet". In the first pic, they couldn't. So, that tells me the "Chevrolet" is moved upward in the second pic.

Hey, too much time on my hands right now.

The photos show two different sides of the sign. Hand painted variations? Maybe the explanation.

Carleen 03-24-2020 10:31 PM

The shadow under the cars in the first picture does not look right

L_e_e 03-24-2020 10:33 PM

Where did all the power lines go?

427TJ 03-24-2020 10:59 PM

Totally a shopped photo.

If you look at the tires on the 69 Camaro on the right...it has big letters?

Photoshopped

Billohio 03-25-2020 02:31 AM

In the first picture the vertical Chevrolet is not spelled correctly

Awesome "where's waldo" moment!!

Keith Seymore 03-25-2020 11:20 AM

Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if they took an existing more modern photo of the empty building and then added the "vintage" elements: signage, cars, etc.

here is a pic from 2008 that may have been used

the AC wall unit looks similar in the 1969 pic

looks like the tower was covered with some type of siding and a cap in the 2008 pic so the photo-shopper had to fix that

the 1968 pic looks like a light or pole on top

the distance from the top of the YENKO letters to the top of the tower looks different in the 68 vs 69 pic

the YENKO letters were bolted on pieces and are still around today

Stefano 03-25-2020 05:12 PM

Agree, photo shop.

Definitely the same photo.

You can see the reflection of a Ford Bronco or something that they left in the glass in both pictures.

Nice attention to detail, though: they even modified the brick building in the background.

Mr70 03-25-2020 06:42 PM

Fake..Those cars are clearly superimposed onto that background.

Hey, too much time on my hands right now.

You are correct

Xplantdad 03-25-2020 06:56 PM

I love the vertical "CHEVORLET" as noted above

Nobody said the photoshopper was a good speller!

m22mike 03-25-2020 07:40 PM

Great detective work guys :beers: And why would a Chevy dealer only have 69 Camaros out front ?

Unreal 03-25-2020 11:24 PM

Looks similar to the print I have of the building, with nothing but muscle cars/supercars on the lot.

If the real original had had the word "Camaro" anywhere, the photoshopped pic would probably have it spelled "Camero"

Jonesy 03-26-2020 01:11 AM

I cant believe someone on this site hasnt bought that place yet :D

firstgenaddict 03-26-2020 01:28 AM

The vertical chevrolet should also be in the SHADE... see the way the shadow falls on the YENKO letters, the sun is coming from behind the dealership.
