Does anyone have the vin or last 2 digits of the red Bill Thomas phase3 67 car?
Is that the one that had the Nickey emblems added by the 4th owner? Found on a side street in Ca if I remember correctly? If so, I have it in a notarized letter from the second owner.
I think this is the one.... https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0511-10...eybill-thomas/

Yep...that’s it. Send me a pm with what you think it might be...say 2 of the last 3 and I’ll let you know.
I just need the last digit.

9

29.....
Cool!
And that car is missing it's original engine.....
I would like to thank John M for giving me a lead as to the possibility of it being that car save for the last number in the vin , and Zedder for giving me the last number. BT1031 stamped on the front of the pad...BT being Bill Thomas, 1031 being the date it was removed etc ??? Or maybe a job/order number of some type?

Glad to help with the mystery. I’ve always loved this car since I first talked to Ken about it in 1998. I hated seeing the Nickey emblems added to it as it became better known. The original owner, Ron, never mentioned Nickey in his discussions about the car...only Bill Thomas. Ron also told
Bill to leave the 396 emblems on the car because he wanted it to be a “sleeper” :). These are copies of pics taken on the day he picked it up from Bill’s shop. |
Mark, I remember those pics and you trying to buy the car back then. I'm thinking the price was in the $25K range before the word got out on what it was?
Yep...he knew what it was, but none of us really had any idea what it was worth. He was asking $25k and someone offered him $40k sight unseen...I remember you and I trying to figure out what a fair price was...and it was snatched up! For those not around then...mint 67 Z’s were about $36kish.
Mark, was this Camaro in Anaheim? That looks like my old neighborhood..and there was a red 67 right around the corner....Hmmmmm:beers:
Bruce, it was purchased from Bill Thomas in Anaheim. I can’t see a Ron’s address, but his friend was the second owner and he lived in Long Beach.
