"Life is Great... in a 328!"
2 Attachment(s)
Greetings Mens!
Reliable should be picking this up later in the week for me! I've been eyeing these up for the last few years and the crest had cressend :hmmm: and the time was perfect to snatch one up! :3gears: My ultimate goal was a Testarossa, but those are crazy stupid money now. The 328s are the last "classic" Ferrari with no computer crap like the never ones have and arguably known as the most reliable Ferrari built. Plus, vintage styling still gets the heart going! This one is an 86, has 51k miles, all manuals and tools, with fresh service (major, clutch, brakes, e.t.c) Rosso Corsa with a Tan interior. Typical classic Ferrari. Of course as soon as it gets here I'm going to have to A12Pilot detail it, discover factory finishes and such, but the first order of business will be to beat the snot out of it and enjoy it! More when it gets here! Cheers:beers: Dave |
|
Excellent. Congrats. On my list too for the same reasons!!!!:biggthumpup::biggthumpup:

Someone took great care of that car, Dave.
|
Excellent.....Congrats and Enjoy 😊
Dan |
I love it. That's a real beauty especially in those colors.
How is the maintenance on those? Any engine-out services required? Great choice. My goal is a 360 or 430 sometime, but that's probably down the road a bit. Congrats on a beautiful Ferrari. |
Yeah, Tim. The last owner’s receipts total about $18k with everything 328s and Ferrari’s need completed. Majors on these cars run about $6k if not more. He cared for it well, and it shows. The beauty of the 328 is you don’t need to take the engine out for a major, but it is way easier. You only need to do the engine out when you do the Super Dave oil change and by default, the engine comes out anyway!
See, Now I can come down and participate in the Cars on 5th next year, Mark!!:headbang: That’s the main reason I went earlier this year to check out 328s, which sadly, there might only have been one:thumbsdown: and I never got close to it anyway.:frown: Can’t wait to discover the prancing horse mystique! I’ms just gonna ooze class n’ $hit! Cheers:beers: Dave |
Make sure you buy some white pants and boat shoes Dave. :burnout:

You gotta grow the Jersey mustache now in order to be an official member of the Future Former Ferrari Owner's Club. Pronounce the club name initials really loud and fast, because you'll be saying it a lot when you see the parts prices.
BTW, congrats. Remember to put some towels over the driver's seat bolsters (the left side sections closest to the door). The saddle colored dye wears very rapidly from the driver sliding across the seat when entering instead of just sitting down. This was me and a college bud back in 1988 when I drove it up for homecoming weekend. Terrible car - it looked incredible and drove awesome but if you were trying to pick up a lady in the car, it would absolutely refuse to start. Hell, it wouldn't even unlock its doors to let her in. It was THE most jealous car I have ever owned. |
Very cool! Congrats!!
|
congrats dave! its looks like a beauty... Enjoy it!
|
Congrats Dave.
|
I want one !!! Congrats...
|
Cool car.
|
Don't look at the dogs, work the lock... don't look at the dogs, work the lock. Awww, you looked at the dogs!...
|
Congrats. One of my favorite F cars.
|
Awesome Dave! I've always loved these things. Saw a great 328 this weekend while teaching my fiance' how to drive stick in my Z28... my precise words were "do not hit the Ferrari..."
Joke aside... love that V8 and gated shifter. These cars are on the rise. Smart to get in now! Dan |

Congrats Dave, cool cars also hard not to love that magical exhaust sound! Looks like you joining the club tipped the scales of value w/ Ferrari now worth more than GM or Ford... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/tops...CID=IE11FREDHP :beers: ~ Pete . |

Thanks guys! I was going back and forth between these and the 348s too. But apparently, the 348s have a rep in the Ferrari world like like Boxster has in the Porsche world for some reason. Plus, I really wanted a "vintage" one and the 328 is the last classic you could actually work on without seriously screwing things up it seems. I'm sure eventually I'll take it to the next level. It's not like I already ordered factory carpet and seat upholstery or anything!
Cheers Dave |

A12pilot,
Here is the engine in my 308 with a centrifugal supercharger to take care of the missing grunt. Pulls like a big block Chevelle now with go-kart handling. They make kits for your 328...…. Just sayin' :) |

Uh oh...we might have to talk! Just got picked up!
Cheers Dave |
about 30 years ago, I rented a 328 in Hawaii and road around Oahu with the ex wife. Part of that experience was great....

Just think, someone somewhere is in quarantine with her. |

That is one of the greatest feelings in the auto realm. Now comes the longest three days ever. P.S. Truck driver needs a better camera. |
The perfect day for a car to be delivered! 75, clear, light breeze. Perfect! Darrin at Reliable pulled into the Ranch and off came a dream! :flag:
Initial drive around the neighborhood just ignited all my senses. It's a totally different feeling than the Muscle cars I'm used to. Just for fun, I had the theme from Magnum P.I. going and after that, The Unknown Stuntman from The Fall Guy, followed up by Miami Vice with the finishioso climaxed by the theme from Dallas.:3gears: More pics to come.... Cheers:biggthumpup::beers: Dave |
Uploaded photos 5 times.... not sure why nothing is posting. Steve.... help! Security Token needed, then it tells me I don't have access to the site to post? Me!? A12pilot?!:hmmm::tongue::tongue::grin:
Cheers Dave |
It's the voodoo curse again.
Congrats on the delivery ...see I told you they were jealous cars. Did you ask her if you could post risque photos of her? |

Try #2!
Cheers:dunno: Dave |
Very nice, beautiful!! Where's the Magnum mustache???
|
Great delivery shots!
|
Thanks Guys! NJSteve had that mustache shot all wrapped up, so I can’t compete with that!
Took her for a long drive yesterday. Handles like a go-kart, rides like it’s on train tracks, and smells like a Cessna 172 inside. About as cool as one would expect!:3gears: Not exactly the most powerful car on the road, since after all, this is 1986 technology we’re talking about. But man, it’s just cool all around! OK, enough F-Talk. I have a Cuda to get painted!:3gears: Cheers:beers: Dave |
The worst part of delivery of a car is when that baby is hanging out there on the ramp like that. I'm always praying the brakes don't go at that moment.

I must have been there about the early 90s. Guy had a small lot packed full of exotic cars.
He had a new lime green Lamborghini sitting there. Someone had it rented the whole next week. It was fun to ride around in the 328 and we went around Diamond head and the whole island. Most of his cars were used and brought in from California and some had some wear. He said he had trouble with people curbing wheels and breaking keys off in ignitions. It was a great time, got some kind of flu the morning we left. |
Congrats Dave! We're gonna need some more action shots of that beauty as well as maybe some video.
|
Thanks, Mark! Ya know, I ordered a Little action cam, and after getting the red SIM card of death as soon as I turned it on, back to Amazon it went!:bs:
So maybe I’ll try another one here shortly to make videos. I really want to document to 507 build!! Standby in that one. Man, I sat in the car yesterday and just inhaled 1986. So freakin’ coooool!!! Cheers Dave |
