Please post Stock/Day2 engine and exhaust combinations here with a sound/video clip if possible.
Thank You! |
A nice pair of turbo mufflers behind this solid lifter small block with M/T style headers. Sounds like a big block. lol

Here's our Z, with headers and a Pypes 2 1/2" mandrel system with their transverse muffler.
With 2 1/2" tail pipes https://youtu.be/5dTNw93VPEQ And again with the stock 2" tail pipes grafted in. https://youtu.be/IZ0HlEY7b74 Here's our Formula with the exact same system but with stock exhaust manifolds up front. https://youtu.be/uIFkggwDY-8 I'll have to dig up some other clips if interested of the GTO and my BB chevelle. The Chevelle is 2" super comps with 3" exhaust, Dr. Gas X with Dynomax Ultraflows and Torque Tech tailpipes. The GTO is similar but with 3 1/2" into a Dr Gas that reduces to 3" and some little race mufflers on it, forget the brand name. |
Because you mentioned that you were looking for exhaust sounds with Corvair / Turbo's, here are a couple of pics of the Nova exhaust. It had 2.5" duals with stock tailpipes. For reference purpose.

My Chevelle. I've had this exhaust system on the car for the better part of 30 years, with at least 4 different mufflers that I can remember during that time frame. First set was a pair of what they called hemi mufflers or something along those lines, back when they were more popular. These most recent mufflers are Dynomax 20" case Ultraflows. At idle they sound a lot like the Hemi mufflers I remember, but these Ultraflows get fairly aggressive at WOT. I'm really liking these over all the others I've tried. Very pleasant to cruise. https://youtu.be/M-TsdxjE144 My fathers GTO. This system is just as old, similar to the setup on the Chevelle with the exception of having what was called at the time a race muffler or shootout muffler. Unfortunately I don't remember the name brand but they've been long out of business for 15+ years now. They are very small at about 12" long and only came in one configuration (center in center out) and while much louder when standing behind it, this car is surprisingly quiet to cruise inside the car. https://youtu.be/HQ7e9o4qAaI |

454 LS7 but I can’t remember the mufflers but it dumped at the axle. cwc will need to chime in on exhaust setup.
396, x pipe, Pypes transverse muffler 2.5” stock location. L78, h pipe, Flowmaster transverse muffler stock location. Soon to change TBA. |

Since the original post changed target and is now looking for stock exhaust sounds, here's a stock 302 with a Comp Cam and factory style Gardner dual exhaust system with deep tone muffler. (warming up on fast idle here)
|
Cool, If stock is what you want, here's our Z with it's original born with exhaust system, deep tone muffler and original piping, early build so it doesn't have chrome tips.
