1969 Chevelle 2 dr post with vinyl top
1 Attachment(s)
Looking at a 1969 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 2 door post car. I like the vinyl roof cars and seen this:
http://classicvehicleslist.com/chevr...-post-car.html That is the only car I seen with the vinyl roof on a post? Just wondering where I could get the chrome trim and roof from if the deal goes thru? Thanks John |
Just, so you are clear.....this Chevelle is a clone, NOT a real deal SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan.
Dale has it posted on his Website....only to show of the color combo and the rarity of the Vinyl Top. The VT was an option. Yes, much smaller RPO numbers on a 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Model. There are quite a few out there. Dan |
The trim is difficult to find....it is not reproduce.
The 300 Deluxe Base Models are different in many ways.....they are not the easiest car to restore because of their rarity and low production numbers. Dan |
Thanks Dan. Car doesn't need restoring, was restored YEARS ago yet paint is mostly OK. I have looked for the trim stuff but can't find it, no biggie.
Thanks |

Yes, same Clone Car.
Dan |
I restored the Butternut Yellow SS396....she is in my registry, real deal, fully documented SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan.
Great car....great car owner :) Dan |
its not hard to get, just have to want to buck up for nice trim..
|
That's sharp!!
You guys gotta stop posting Hugger Orange Chevelles or I'll never go back to Carolina Blue. lol Really makes me want to add a vinyl top too. |
I just like the way it breaks up the amount of color on a post car.
Marxjunk, you can PM me if you have or know where some is. |
EZ..ive seen several sets go thru facebook on camaro joes, a member here, for sale page, as a matter of fact i almost bought a set because there was a really really nice set and i felt they where dirt cheap..let me see what i can come up with, i will look on there tonight when i get home

Buick's, Pontiacs and Olds post cars have same trim on certain years.

For sure I will. Thank for the info on the phone, very helpful.
Great chat today. John |
You talked to the right guy for post sedan questions, John!
|
YES Bill, Dan certainly knows about these post cars.
Dan, So if this is a 2 dr post, 1969 Chevelle (that we know it is), PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, It can only be a 300 or Malibu right? So if those are the only 2 "post" options, and IF IT has dash vents, it's a Malibu? And Mailbu has the "hidden" wipers too? It that right? Planning on seeing/driving the car next week. Now I know the bench seat is bye-bye. Has buckets and console now with ORIGINAL back seat. So probably has build sheet. I think the car was originally butternut yellow. I'm leaning towards Rally Green (wifes favorite color is green), Hugger orange or LeMans blue. IF I look and put the vinyl roof on, would add Olympic gold to the list. |
Not post cars but you can get an idea what they will look like in the colors you mentioned

We had a triple black L78 for a while. Not a sedan though. Really liked that car. Wish I still had it.
|
Thanks Lee, much appreciated. It would be black roof IF it happens seeing that it's black interior.

A 69 Chevelle 2 door post sedan can ONLY be a 300 Deluxe model; no 69 Malibus came with a post. If it's a post sedan and has dash vents (Astro Ventilation), then someone swapped in a Malibu dashboard some time over the years. The 2 door post sedan cars only came with the kick panel vents and the vent windows in the doors. And yes, the Malibu came standard with the hidden wipers, but they were optional at extra cost on the 300 Deluxe. |
|
Thanks Lee. The orange/black or that first blue/black look pretty nice...

https://i.postimg.cc/wv6C167H/kk.jpg Why do these two cars look different? What was the top car ordered with that the bottom car wasn't? Not the stripes, the window treatment. |
Yes, option code B90 window trim. I think the bottom car (with the black side stripe) may be one that Dan restored????

Bottom car is a survivor L89 car. Roger A owns. (No B90 trim) I am not a fan of a VT on a post car, but B90 trim is awesome looking!!! Ryan W31 |
Thanks guys, is the B90 trim repo'ed? That could make a big difference if I were to go vinyl roof.

No reproduction. NOS is available for big bucks.... used is the main option. Ryan W. |
Ok thanks Ryan. I'm quite confident I will own a 69 post Chevelle by mid summer next year. Thank for all the info and help everyone.

Saw a 2 door post in Cortez Silver a month or two back. Didn't think to ask about the registry but he did say it was something like one of 6 L78s in silver.
My grandfather had a '68 post car over 30 years ago. Blue, I6 Glide car he put a rowdy 350 and 4 speed into. So for me, when it comes to 1968 and 1969, post car Chevelles are cooler than the hardtops |

Hmmmm, another silver w/ blue interior 69 Post Sedan! Mine even has the same "USA-1" plate on the front as that one does, but it's not an L78.
|
It was gorgeous. According to the owner, most people have no idea what a post car is. Was pretty surprising for them to have a 21 year old come up and gush over it, knowing exactly what it is lol
