Let's talk shifter handles and knobs

Please school me on shifter handles and knobs. I'm sure others will benefit.

Take this handle I acquired for example. Was this a factory hurst T handle?

Which are the most sought after and how can we tell the difference between genuine and repops factory/aftermarket?

Are there Day2 knobs/handles that are extra special?

I'm ready to learn.

Thanks!
Jose

Not noted in Lee’s comparison pic of handles, but the “4” in the Repop is a giveaway.

Here is one I bought from Rich (Enoch) about a year ago. Thought it looked cool. Don't know much about it, I just thought it looked cool. Fit perfect on my Hurst Comp Plus from Crash:headbang:

This is like playing that childhood game where you spot the differences. I didn't even notice the 1 until you mentioned it.

Thanks!

Cool handle I like that pattern.

Great, Informative thread here!
What about those black & gold fuzzy flocked T-Handles?
Has anyone tried one of those black velvety flocking hobby kits- like for making jewelry box drawers etc? I've thought about doing that on a used T-Handle and see how it turns out.

Thanks! I like the gold prism background... matches the Gold motif of my car. I haven't seen another one like it goggles

Does this one have the hole in the end of the handle for set screw access?

When did the HURST get slanted? The one in my grandfather's Foxbody is like the others in this thread, but the one I got for my first truck five years ago has it slanted/italicized.

Can you post a photo of your truck's shifter handle?

Admittedly it might not be the easiest difference to spot. Also, not in the truck because the truck is long gone lol. It's basically the logo they used on the 4 speed patterned ones. They use it on the regular ones too now

I'll put yours at the top and some others below it to compare

I want either that B&M shifter handle or that red Hurst handle as they would be perfect for my car. Any idea if that B&M handle is comfortable in your hand?

Chevelle SS 396 L78 09-11-2020 02:31 PM

I don’t remember anyone back in the day having a Hurst competition shifter with a T-handle with the shift pattern on it! I know mine didn’t....I don’t care for the pattern design personally....keep it simple! My repro is exactly like my original one.

In my parts drawer since 1978.I have no idea what this goes to,think it came from an Autoshop build gone awry.
It has threads both inside & outside.
No makers mark on it anywhere.
Any ideas what this fits?

I've seen a few of those. I'm also curious.

Also, now I know I lost the gamble I took when I bought this ford T handle. Notice the modern curvature at the top. Didn't know until now.
