Green paint for the PBT
1 Attachment(s)
Anybody have an acceptable color green for the PBT stamps? I know vendors sell it...but, I was thinking maybe a hobby store. Thank you, Joe

IIRC, that's more of an ink than paint.
The size of the stamps were off significantly. Maybe that's been corrected. |
Chick’s thread at TC suggested a paint pen applied to the stamp gave great results, and if you skip further down to reply 698, there’s a green that is worth testing for color accuracy:

Practise lots on a painted metal plate until your happy with the stamp and the ink weight. It's gotta be perfect.

Thank you for all the input. I looked at Chick's post that Tim shared. That looks like the way to go. I will also study the look & size of the stamps as suggested by Kurt. I got them from pacecarjeff. Thank you, Joe

I used stamps from Hobby Lobby oddly enough and I think they came out pretty close. Paints were also in their craft paints section.
Edited for the visually sensitive. |
Don't do it like Darrell or the whole firewall will look blurry!

I use a permanent heavy bodied ink from the art supply store.
I had in the past used Dr Bombay india inks in green and orange, they are not heavy bodied enough. In order to do the stamp quickly and in the same place I found them. I hold the stamp in my right hand -then lay my right wrist on the firewall to use as a hinge point... hold the stamper in my right hand and then using my left slap the back of my right hand to quickly apply the stamp. This engine compartment was included in the inspection and was deemed to have been VERY ORIGINAL by the one who judges such things. The originals were quite light on pigment as one can see in the photos of the car prior to work done. Stamps were from RICKS - 13 -14 years ago. |
