https://i.postimg.cc/fyxqMgMc/55.jpg The story goes that AMC executives loved the Hurst SC/Rambler but were a little concerned the wild hood graphics might be too over the top and hamper sales so a second paint scheme ("B") which was more sedate was developed. When it was all over (first available March 1969) 1,512 were made (the initial run was to be 500, then 1000 and finally 1500) of which 342 were the "B" paint scheme. |
Actor James Garner's race team AIR (American International Racing) fielded 10 cars at Baja.
8 were 2 wheel drive 2 were 4 wheel drive |

The Hurst SC/Rambler first made it's appearance at the NY Auto Show in 1969. The only difference between that car and the production cars were the wheels. Instead of the entire wheel being painted blue, as seen on this production car, the "spokes" of the wheel had a "brushed aluminum" appearance. |

Story I heeard was the car was a super stocker from day one and listed in some super stock paper/deal or registry as being FACTORY with the crossram? I was told that this certain ScRambler came just like the crossrammed Z28's, with the stuf in the trunk. Don said they had the documantation that this certain car got a full sjperstock package..... I see some Z28 claiming factory crossrams even though they came in the trunk, just like AMC seem to offer at least one guy. |
The crossram set up for a Z/28 was never supplied in the trunk. It was never an option. It was purchased over the parts counter from the off road catalog....Joe

How they got around this on the SS AMX was to have Hurst do all the installations. Hurst never built a SS SC/Rambler. |
