Is this the car that was part of the 67 Z/28 display at MCACN in 2017? I believe that car was the only known Royal Plum 67 Z/28.

olredalert 11-25-2020 08:55 PM

----Wow,,,Royal Plumb,,,One of my favorite 67 colors and a really pretty resto it seems. If it had deluxe interior it would be like hitting the lottery for me. Still too little storage room to take on another car.....Damn!......Bill S

Start looking for off-site storage...https://www.yenko.net/forum/data:ima...HVs6F6EQAAOw==

I know of 2 Norwood and 2 Los Angeles built Royal Plum ‘67 z’s and there are probably more out there. But definitely one of the rarer colors. This one is the first one I had ever seen. Extremely nice car.

Bob Harris had an identical car he restored and was on the cover of Camaro Corral in 1990ish. That car really stood out, and why I chose the same guy to do the body paint on my black 69 rs/z.

Update: found the article Mar/April 1991

thomam 11-26-2020 01:56 AM

I agree one of the best around!!

6t7 camaro 11-26-2020 02:19 AM

Steve, I believe this is the car Bob Harris did back then. I saw it right after he restored it at The Camaro Nationals in Ohio. I believe that was 1989. It was extremely impressive. Bob currently has an extremely rare Capri Cream ‘67 RS Z on EBAY that looks pretty sweet.

Steve Shauger 11-26-2020 02:25 AM

Well I read the Midwest Car Exchange description and looks like in fact its the same car now being auctioned by Mecum!!!

Zedder 11-26-2020 02:48 AM

Bob’s car had pinstripes...this one doesn’t

6t7 camaro 11-26-2020 02:52 AM

I noticed that too Mark. I’m willing to bet it’s been reshot since being restored by Bob and that got left off.

Take a look at this link posted in this thread. Most likely the car has been repainted since bob restored the car 30 years ago: https://www.mcecars.com/vehicles/536...-camaro-rs-z28

Zedder 11-26-2020 02:57 AM

Lol...I was just coming back to post that link! Does appear to be the same car. Shocked that it would need repainting, but it appears that it did.

6t7 camaro 11-26-2020 03:21 AM

I will say of the Plum Z’s I know of, this is the only one with the RS package.

Any guess what this car sells for?

I heard that it sold for $160k at Mcacn. Prices are down from then.

Billohio 11-26-2020 04:49 PM

Heartbeat city had a plum 67 z advertised at one time. It was apart, no paint. Not sure if there was a drivetrain.
Here is what I assumed was the mecum car

scuncio 11-26-2020 05:13 PM

There was a plum Z on EBay a few years for something like $14000 with an old drag racing picture and no other meaningful information. Wonder where that car ended up?

6t7 camaro 11-26-2020 05:48 PM

Believe it or not Bob Harris wound up with the Heartbeat Z 2 years ago. The pictures I have of it are as a finished car only missing it’s black vinyl top. I don’t know if he restored it or acquired it restored. I was told the original engine was acquired through MacNiesh. He sold it shortly after.

6t7 camaro 11-26-2020 05:56 PM

Scuncio, I remember the one you saw on EBay. If I remember correctly that was described as a 2L, 3L, 4L car that was basically being sold as a gutted out shell. I hope it was savable. I saved the photo because it was so cool. It has damaged front fender and Collett Speed Shop lettered on the door.

Exactly. By the time I had convinced my wife that I should take a chance on it, the auction had already ended.

Billohio 11-27-2020 12:08 AM

Tony just have it show up in the driveway then figure out how to explain it!!

I saved the Collett Speed Shop pic back then too, took a bit to find.
Was the eBay car it or just a pic that went with it?:hmmm:

It is better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

6t7 camaro 11-27-2020 02:40 AM

I believe the eBay auction was for the remains of the car in the photo.

I was going to say the same thing.

It has worked a few times now...

67427 11-27-2020 01:09 PM

Little Hoss was also a royal plum Z

6t7 camaro 11-27-2020 03:16 PM

Of the two paint schemes Little Hoss was campaigned in, I liked the original Royal Plum one better. Just one man’s opinion.

6t7 camaro 11-27-2020 03:22 PM

Do any of you guys know of a 67 RS/Z raced out of Reading PA under the name Bad Bunny? Just curious if that car still exists. It looks like it’s Tuxedo Black in the photo I have.

You might want to reach out to a member here Joe B “ Bugsy “ he knows the guy that built the engine for this car, Lee Cruppi. There was also another 67 Z28 from the Reading PA area campaigned by the Musser Brothers

Thanks for posting those! In the one color photo it looks like this car could be Royal Plum!
