Saw them in 79 before the MTV days. They made a lot of noise for a 3 piece!
RIP

We saw them many times since we live in Austin. My wife was born and raised in Houston and they played at Astroworld many, many times when she way young.

Saw ZZ Top in concert in Mich back late 90's. Sad news

What a downer. One of the most innovative bands out there. And I agree, the documentary was awesome.

NorCam 07-29-2021 12:21 AM

Yup. Had to know he was looking old but still sucks to see him go. One of the best...and a true hotrod guy too. RIP Dusty!

Sad news, my only connection to the band was at a car show at the LA Fair Grounds years ago, I took a nail in one of my tires at the show while cruising the lanes and had to change it for the bias ply spare that was in my trunk - I went to the swap section and bought a cheap bottle jack and was working that when Billy Gibbons walked by and he says something like "bad luck bro" in that distinctive voice of his. Dusty will be missed.

Sad news that sure hits home as I got to spend a few hours w/ Dusty and Billy G. at a Toronto ZZ show 30 years ago who both treated me like an old friend also went completely out of their way to come back for and include me in some post hoopla fun.
I've met other famous rockers over the years too but lights/fame/glitz aside, both Dusty and Billy are 100 percent pure down to earth boys enjoying their lives of music/cars/girls/guitars/bikes etc also as much fun w/ good people as possible!
RIP

These three guys made real Hot Rod music and this will be a tough loss to process.

Read a little clip that Variety wrote when they interviewed Billy G the other night. It really puts it all in perspective for you. These guys were so so tight...so it's nice to see them going on as they are.

ZZ Top played in Tuscaloosa Alabama last night. My nephew and his wife are there for her graduation from Alabama and he said the bass tech is filling in for Dusty. They play on......
