15X7 Centerline Auto Drag

Hi Folks, looking for a pair of 15X7 Centerline Auto Drags, 5X4.75. I'm looking for a pair with 4.5-5" of backspacing. Thanks

Lynn 11-01-2021 03:48 PM

I don't think you will find a 4.5 inch back space, or a 4.25", which is what I looked for when I bought a pair for my 69 Z.

I ended up buying 5" back space, and use a 3/8 spacer to keep it from rubbing.

I bought mine new. But I don't think they make the 5" back space any longer.

There is a used pair on ebay.

And despite no one making a hub centric ring for them, you will want to run rings. You can have them made.

Thanks Lynn. I've actually been watching that set for quite a while- many months. They haven't sold because he's looking for a whole lot more than I personally think they're worth (IMHO).
If he was a little more reasonable in his price, I would definitely grab them and run a spacer.
I bought a nice pair of 15X7s with 3.5 BS locally at a swap meet about a month ago- mounted up some 245/60s. They do fit, but they're not working for me with the back spacing compared to the 15X8.5' rears- so I took them back off.
I am looking to swap out the current 15X4 front runners.

I also don't believe Centerline is still offering polished Auto Drag wheels in 15 inch; only satin finish.

I bought mine around 2012, but there have been a lot of changes.

I am pretty sure they used to offer 15x7 with 4.25 back spacing, many years ago.

I found a killer deal on a set of very early satin Auto Drags, 15 x 10 and 15 x 7 for the El Camino on CL. They are the ones with dual bolt pattern 4.5 and 4.75...not varilug, two sets of holes drilled) and designed to use beveled lug nuts, all covered by a small screw-on hub cap. Not a scratch on them. Paid $300 for the set, and they had a set of BF Goodrich tires that still held air. I wouldn't drive on them, but they worked great until I got some new tires.

I would watch CL for a set. Old guys like us are dying left and right, and their kids normally don't give a crap about this stuff. So, off to CL they go.

Those 15x4’s look good on there

Thanks. I'm not looking to get rid of the 15X4's- just swap them out occasionally. They handle pretty good for a narrow tire, but they're not the best thing to take up through the sweepers up in the mountains. You'll be happy to know there is a LS6 454 under the hood of that car (with a Victor, 1050 Dominator, and a 250 HP nitrous plate- hence the hood).

Sounds like a mit full. Where are you located that you have mountain twisties?

Still looking for a pair of 15X7 Centerline Auto Drags with 5" backspacing.
In case any of you guys run across a set. Thanks

Lynn 12-13-2021 10:08 PM

I thought I read a few years back that Centerline shut down. Something about not being able to keep up with environmental standards.

Did someone buy them out and continue manufacturing Centeline wheels? There are lots of new ones for sale in ebay and I have a hard time believing it is all old stock.

3X24SPD 12-14-2021 08:37 AM

Not sure the status of the company- they do still have a website up.
As you mentioned- 15X7 are still available new- but they don't offer the 5" BS. Only the 3.76".
You know you want to sell me the ones you have, don't you? LOL

Damien 12-14-2021 09:32 PM

The frontrunners you have are 15x3.5
The new Centerlines that are being made today are not an exact match of the wheels of the past, so I'd be hitting the swap meets etc to find what you are after.

Yep, I hit all the swaps. And watch ebay. And do a Search All Craiglist across the whole country once a week. Nearly impossible to find them with 5" BS. The 3.5" are all over the place for sale. I'm thinking now that I definitely should've bought that ebay set!

you know what they say: Everything is FOR SALE, just not ON sale. I REALLY like my Centerlines on the Black Z.

I would keep checking CL ads. I bought a VERY EARLY set of Centerlines for the El Camino, 15 x 8 in the front and 15 x 10 in the rear; all with perfect offset, for $300 locally just a few years ago. They are the ones with two sets of holes that use tapered lugs. They have screw on hubcaps so you can't see the double lug holes. Found them on CL just an hour after they posted. Not a scratch on them.

Besides, shipping is a killer on this stuff, unless you are a huge retailer getting a discount.

Here's a Kijiji Canada ad, low price in Cdn. $ may make it worth shipping?

Best of luck also keep in mind there's sYc Members nearby that may be able to help if you need.

Thanks Pete. I just shot him an email asking about the backspacing.
They're probably 3.5, but it's worth a short.
I'd be up for a road trip to Canada- no problem!

3X24SPD 12-15-2021 09:01 AM

Thanks Lynn- I was just kidding. I don't need these that bad. I'm sure they look killer on your car. Post up a pic! -Bill

Hi Pete, I received a response back from the seller- those Canadian ones are in fact 3.5".
But thanks for the lead anyway. The search continues...

Too bad they're the 3.5's but thanks for the update.
Below Link is the Kijiji Canada Main Page where you can search all of Canada at once.
Best try Centerline, Centreline, Center Line + Centre Line, two words what landed above result.

Would be hard to talk me out of mine; I am not ready to drive on bias ply tires, which is all I have for the ralley wheels.

I looked for a good year before I found the ones for the El Camino.

Here is a pic of the Camaro before I put the bumper on, and before I got the grill color correct.
