'70 RS/Z, #s 350/M22 4-sp, Blue on Blue, Docs
Nice looking car with its original build sheet and POP. Was owned by Merle DuPrey at some point in the past...guy had quite a few cool cars back in the day.

Auction already ended. Had a Buy it now of $65K
I really like that car, but everything better be right for that price. I see console on the buildsheet but no console. |
Blue on Blue, RS, custom interior, matching #'s, M-22, original body panels, and excellent docs. $65K doesn't seem out of line with all of that going for it.

Same dealer that my 66 Malibu was sold out of.

Auction ended, probably got a good offer. Best 2nd gen I have seen in awhile.

This blue one an LT1 car? Seems like a nice car that you don't have to restore mechanically and cosmetically.

Build sheet, box 97-98, 350-360hp |
I love the short spoiler on those cars.

The only engine available from 70-72 in the Z-28 was the LT-1...although it was never referred to as such. In the Camaro, it was always referred to as the Special High Performance 350..or as the Special (SPL) Engine on build sheets. Internally, it was the same as the Corvette LT-1, but de-rated 10hp in 1970 for the Camaro. Not sure if that was Chevy's way to keep the Corvette on top or if the differences in air cleaner assembly, manifolds and exhaust resulted in the HP loss. I believe for 71 and 72, the Camaro and Corvette "LT-1s" carried the same HP ratings.
Regardless, in 71 and 72, the LT-1s were still stuffed full of all the good stuff....4-bolt mains, sold cam, steel crank, pink rods, 2.02/1.60 heads with screw-in studs, windage tray oil pan, aluminum intake and 7890 Holley carb....just bump the compression up and you're basically back to 1970 specs! |
