Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2022 (updated 1/20)

Didn't go to Pavilions today as I started working at Barrett Jackson. Shot lots of cell phone pictures that I cannot resize, as they are either small or huge. I think I know how to fix it, but I'm too tired to mess with them tonight. Click on the link below to see the first two days.

It looks like it will be a great show. Thank you for posting the pictures.

CC Rider 01-18-2022 03:55 AM

Updated again with today’s pictures. I encountered 2 Chevelle LS6’s and 2 GNX’s today during check in. Also encountered a Hemi Cuda, 2 TA Cudas, and various Boss Mustangs.

CC Rider 01-19-2022 03:36 AM

Updated for 1/18/2022: Very first car was a 1977 Trans Am SE with Burt Reynolds ownership history, some Boss 9’s, ‘69 COPO Camaro and Chevelle, and an LS6 convertible with an “upgraded sound system”.

We were very busy today with new arrivals. Lots of nice pro-touring cars and trucks are coming in. If you plan to attend, check out the North Showcase (near the man in entrance) and the South Showcase (south of the auction stage in the arena).

Updated my album; https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

interesting deal on the carousel red with parchment interior 69 ra4 automatic judge.
back around 81 or 82 i bought a complete from carb, exhaust manifolds, distributor etc.. ram air 4 engine. i tried off and on for 40 years to locate the car it came out of with no luck. since i have been reducing my collection, i decided a few months back to sell the engine to a good friend. then a couple of weeks ago a friend called and said hey the judge your engine came out of is listed on BJ. couldnt believe it. ive been in contact with the seller and my friend agreed to sell the engine to the buyer if they want to pay for it. hopefully they will get reunited together.

I processed 92 auction vehicles today. Lots of VIN’s and vehicle descriptions were verified. Still managed to shoot 51 photos. Saturday will be the first day the public will be admitted.

Update my online album: https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

I am interested in buying the Judge if I can reunite it with the original engine. Can you give me any info on the car or the engine (block rebuildable, standard bore, etc...)?

7TL34 01-22-2022 06:36 PM

Was interested to see how Lot#1443 went (1969 COPO Camaro). But now it doesn't show up on the docket, - wonder what happened? I have a personal connection to the car. Dale.

CC Rider 01-23-2022 04:00 AM

Today was not as hectic, even though the gates opened to the public. Still waiting for some auction vehicles to arrive. From what I hear, some were removed from the docket because there are transportation issues and some consigners backed out.

I update my album with today’s pictures. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

my friend said he would sell the block to anyone who actually owns the car. it was standard bore and in perfect shape as far as i knew.

Fell asleep last night. I updated my photo album last night before falling asleep. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...cottsdale-2022

Heard through other coworkers the orange COPO was removed from the docket and by now, may not be on the premises. Heard the “F” word used. A Mustang was removed from the docket too, but I do not know the lot#.

Would be interested to hear more about the Orange COPO (#1443), as it was a real car when I test drove it in spring of 1970. Dale

CC Rider 01-25-2022 03:26 AM

The vehicle auction started today at 2 PM with mostly 2 wheel vehicles. I didn’t take one of these as my duties now have me going to the various tents for description card swaps. May start driving tomorrow or Wednesday.

I updated the album; https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

I’ll try to find out something on the COPO.

CC Rider 01-26-2022 01:13 PM

Late night driving last night. To fill TV time, the selling pace was very slow. Auctioneers work the crowd to get as much as they could for the seller. 400+ cars get sold today, so we’ll be rocking’.

The old R&S sight has become an overflow parking area for BJ. Lots of car haulers are parked there now.

You’ll want to check out the newest photos to see some of the weird stuff I drove today.

Not all of them are cool, but I make the best of every situation.

Billohio 01-27-2022 04:49 PM

Thanks for posting. How many do they get that wont start and issues? Last 2 cars I was interested in at Mecum Kissimmee would not start. Both got pushed across the block lol
They said they ran out of new batteries this year

Big Block Bill 01-27-2022 05:38 PM

Sounds like poor planning on the sellers part if it doesn't start to get across the auction stage. In the whole scope of things what does a new battery co$t? A LOT, if it doesn't project a good image to a potential buyer, and you know what they say:, "You only get 1 first impression"

All too many times a dead battery is the byproduct of people climbing in and out of these cars like it's a ride at the state fair. People who will never bid on a car have to jump in, look around, take pics of their wife.......etc, etc. All the while lights of one type or another are left on.

I know there are site members who sell a fair amount of cars in this manner. I have no idea how they tolerate it!

CC Rider 01-28-2022 01:34 PM

I updated the album: https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

Yes, dead batteries and running out of fuel are constant problems. I ended up with a Mercury Turnpike Cruiser late on Tuesday night that had a dead battery but we managed to charge it enough to go the distance. I ended up with the next to the last car Thursday night, a 2012 Boss 302 Laguna SECA with a dead battery. The mechanic was pissed at me because I did not raise the hood before his arrival. What he did not see was my struggle getting into the car, bending myself around the seat bolsters while doing all possible not to hit the Cobra parked tight next to me. Oh, and then there was the 5 drunk idiots laughing while taking bets if I would hit the Cobra or not. I didn’t.

Yes, I have tons of stories!

The good consigners arrive with at least a 1/4 tank of gas and a fresh battery, or at least a healthy battery. In the heat of the moment, a disaster could happen. Late last night a ‘70 Chevelle SS was pushed up and over the block (dead battery) with the hood wide open because the right hinge was damaged.

Billohio 01-28-2022 03:23 PM

We saw all 3 of those cars. Turnpike cruiser seemed cheap if I remember, my dad said the mustang was ugly and we wondered why the hood wouldnt shut! Thanks!!

Billohio 01-28-2022 03:26 PM

Rick how do we recognize you if you are in a car? Any special hat? We will pay attention.
I saw the picture of the porsche diesel, is that you on the seat?

I didn’t get that car.
I post the cars I get on Facebook, but many of you are not on FB. Let me see what I can do with this thread, maybe just post a lot #.

"with the hood wide open because the right hinge was damaged."

Hood hinges are one of the most ignored things on a car.

Yup...world has gone bat$hit crazy. I just saw some orange and white RS Z/28 with poorly done stripes, T/A radials and a host of obvious errors in the engine bay go for $145,000

And what's with that one that went for $220K today. An RS Z/28 going for over $200K....like seriously?

CC Rider 01-29-2022 05:26 AM

WiFi at Westworld sucks, so posting on Facebook and here was extremely slow to non-existing. I started the day driving a silver 1971 Mustang Boss 351 and ended the day with a Grabber Green 1971 Mustang Boss 351 that sold for $180K. Had cool cars in between. The big buck cars cross the block tomorrow. I’ll update my album tomorrow as o am very sleepy now.
