----Heater core went south. Car doesn't look too bad. No bumps behind the headlights that I can see and that's rare and expensive to fix!.....Bill S

so what is the estimated cost to fix this?

olredalert 03-09-2022 08:39 PM

----Considering that if you go to fix that you may as well jump into a complete resto. If so we are talking somewhere between 35 and 50 grand as I don't know what else is wrong (maybe more). If you just wanted to straighten out this problem then figure somewhere between 3 and 4 grand at any good shop, and a guy would have to be dumb to go anywhere that hasn't done this job before! Of course any help from a new owner would help a lot if that person is handy. I'm going a bit high on estimates as the price of things has ratcheted up so much lately. Materials and labor kill a lot of full resto's today....Bill S

It appears there is some damage to the wing on the back too, sot that should be addressed with the front and, probably a complete repaint. Maybe guessing low at 20 k for all that, what is a fair price for the car ?

It's at 14.5k now with no reserve. If a person could get into it for under 20, it would be reasonable ?

olredalert 03-10-2022 02:45 PM

----Just depends on two things. 1 How much you can do yourself. 2 What else are you going to find. I can also see some sort of problem with one or both T-tops. What about the frame and the windshield header? They frequently rust thru. Is the drivetrain all OK? I'm also not liking the comment "we haven't started it yet". That would seem to be an obvious setback. I am also thinking it may have been painted at sometime in its life. Whats under the repaint if that's the case. The price right now would be enticing if it stays near there, but a qualified person really should look it over....Bill S

----Also just noticed that the door panels are incorrect. It's a deluxe interior and the door panels are not deluxe! Also,,, look at the tilt column lever. They hardly ever rust lke that. Cheap to replace but says something about the rest of the car!

Too Many Projects 03-10-2022 03:11 PM

Yep, that tilt lever jumped right in my face and goes right along with the bubbles from corrosion under the glass. With all the other issues you pointed out, the price right now is probably all it should bring, but we know it will go well beyond that with the market frenzy.
Mechanical doesn't bother me, but it does add to the cost of getting it road worthy, if the engine is toast from sitting too.
Glass work is NOT in my future. I have enough sheetmetal replacement ahead of me to keep me busy until I'm 100 yrs old...:rolleyes2:

Supergas990 03-10-2022 04:00 PM

Unless you "have to have it", to do a full resto on this car could be well north of $20K-$25K, and that accounts doing most of the work yourself.

Paint is toast, issue with T-Tops, and corrosion and rust on underbody supports is just the beginning.

Agreed though, the bidding will again prove the market is crazy and you haven't even filled the gas tank yet...
