Always a favorite of mine at the show.

I got to come see that survivor 69 black L78 camaro, wow. I always get busy working on house remodeling stuff, and never can get away but this year I got to make it. Would be interesting to see how the tail panel looks and some other things to compare.

Mitch the 81 Z28 had its original battery. It was not installed, but displayed behind the car. I believe the only orig item missing was the oil filter.

I know everyone loves barn finds and the red carpet displays, but the vintage cert area is worth the price of admission. Unreal lineup last week!

Vintage Certification 2022 Pics

I will be posting a few pics of each participating car fro MCACN 2022. These are not glamour shots because most of the time we are documenting components #'s date, plating/finishes and small specific areas. That being said these are some larger overall pics. Special thanks to Lloyd Costley for painstakingly photographing each car. This is no easy task because there are 5-6 teams of judges certifying each area of the 6 areas. Then trying to focus on what phase of the certification of the 15 cars is in well to say it's a monumental task is an understatement. Kudos and thanks to Lloyd for a fantastic job!!!
65 Shelby Original owner passed and was passed on to his son. The great thing is the son shared fond memories of how he and his father always cared for the car together. 1965 Shelby Original family 43K Charles McArty Awarded Reference |
That's awesome, Steve. Is that the Shelby that the gentleman wouldn't let anyone either sit in the seat or remove/open something since his dad was the only one to ever do it? Sounds bad, but it wasn't. It was a touching testament to his father:worship::biggthumpup:

I kicked myself in the A$$ for not painting it Tahoe Turquoise, instead I painted it Black. Here is a couple of "As Found" and "As Completed" pictures @ Dana Mecum's Auction in St. Charles Illinois back in 2006. That's the first time I met Kwizz and TimG. Great people. Bill |

Bill, I can tell you it was coded Tahoe Turquoise and the paint was identical in color to my original paint 67 Camaro. Lighting and cameras and monitors all contribute to differing hue. I wish my car was next to this one because the color would look identical. The door jam pic is of the same car with flash.

As Steve said, the lighting had a lot to do with it appearing more Blue in the pics. From the moment I saw it at MCACN, I knew it was Tahoe and it looked like it had never sat in the sun, ever. Your poor Chevelle was all weather beaten and faded. I'm sure if you had seen one in the true color, you would have gotten over the desire to paint it black very quickly. |
Vintage Certification @ MCACN 2022
Yes, I am very sure I would have elected to paint It Tahoe Turquoise if I would have seen this SS-427 Impala prior. The reason I painted it Black, was I had a 1967 SS-396 Chevelle in Black with EVERY option you could get except A/C in High School. I traded it even up for a 9,400 mile, Rally Green, Hemi Road Runner that I have talked about many times before on his site. History, It's Fun to re-live it when you can afford to. Bill

The Vintage Certification display is usually the first place I stop at the show every year. Thank you to Steve and everyone that makes this happen. This display alone is another great reason to attend MCACN if you haven't been before.

It was really fun to look that car over. It WAS "new" and as clean and original as the day it came from the dealer. It still smelled new inside.

Steve....Do you remember the owners name on the Camaro?
