Should be this color.

Very cool! I like how it spells out 4 speed trans on the trim tag!

8 lug wheels
I love the steering wheel Charlie! Great and rare car! What year is it?

Are you going to the drive in tonight Charley?
Charlie....You look like Einstein from where I see it...!!
Yeah, normally I would pile on the "never said I was smart" comment; but really, this car is fabulous.
Thanks for sharing. No sense in asking if I can have it. How about this? Will you adopt me? I would love to have all your toys when you go. You know your wife doesn't want them, right? I'll even take care of all the paperwork. |
sweet car. those tritone interiors are beautiful
Nice!
Oooh...I love those big Indians from the early 60's!!!
This the car your bringing to MCACN this year ? I want to see it...:cool2:
Good choice.
Owner was elderly and hated the gas eating engine so his mechanic that rebuilt everything disabled the end carbs. Runs great.
Wow. Beautiful car.
Cool ride - congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Wow, what a rare and stunning car... well done!
----You are becoming quite the Pontiac guy! This beauty just proves that a 61 Pontiac doesn't have to be a bubble top. In fact, a convert with this drivetrain is far rarer. Love the car!!!.....Bill S
----With my old 64 GP 421 HO/4-speed that the full size air cleaner filled up that huge engine compartment, and supposedly made more horsepower. |

Signs the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse are near:
Gas prices go over $5. Pete Davidson gets to go to outer space. Tom Brady comes out of retirement after just 40 days. Charley buys this. |
Charlie, I think you are very smart for buying that car. If I had the means and was offered it, I would have bought it in a heartbeat AND had the end carbs put back to work, propelling that beautiful car down the road.

It was actually just a spring to counter act the vacuum that was added to disable the end carbs. Simply unhooked it. Runs great. Pretty elaborate setup of vacuum lines for the carbs.
I thought they had block off plates under the end carbs and then figured out it was just the spring.

So the end carbs are actually controlled by vacuum ? I've never seen anything like that. |

And apparently a really big vacuum tank.

Or maybe something is missing off this shaft coming out of the center carb.
----I know that in 1964 GTO's with tri-power the outside carbs were vacuum operated so it stands to reason that earlier Tri-power cars were also vacuum operated. Progressive linkage was out there in speed shops and guys rapidly yanked the vacuum system off. It was gone on my 64 GP and I never put vacuum back on as the car ran fine without it. I believe that Pontiac saw the light in 65 as 65 GTO's came with progressive linkage. California Chris could proably explain it better than me.....Bill S
My only experience was with an older cousins '65 GTO. He had the progressive rod rigged so when he street raced, he could lock it and the end carbs opened immediately. 4 speed with 4.11 gears and cheater slicks. Car was danged fast for the day.

Charlie,
I've done business with this fellow here...... https://pontiactripower.com/ His parts seem to be of high quality and he is a wealth of information. Tim |

Due to my short attention span and not wanting to go thru body and paint I’m going to drive it to the Pavilion’s this weekend and put a 55k price on it. Really rare car with orig. drivetrain and I think priced so somebody can end up with a great car without losing their ass.

Had the crap paint polished and the interior cleaned.
----Next door neighbor had one very similar brand new. I was 14 at that time and my bedroom faced their garage. He was a partier and he used to wake me up on arrival home late at night. It sounded wicked with louder mufflers as he would be backing off the throttle coming down the hill. His was this same drivetrain in baby blue with the same interior except buckets not bench. It probably sealed my love for Pontiacs!.....Bill S
