I didnt think the Camaro had the large knob style.
I thought the all came with the small one like this:

I believe the large knob was used in 69

Jonesy 05-22-2022 01:33 AM

Hmm. Both mine have their originals and they are small. I took that one in the pic out of an original 69 that was in a junkyard back in 1981.

I think the larger knob (same size as the headlight sw knob) was on Chevelles and Impalas

7067625 is the part number for the 69 Camaro knob. Parts book shows it as Camaro and Nova only. If you look that number up, its the smaller knob.

FWIW I’ve owned 7 69 Camaros and all had the small lighter knob.

Hi Everyone, so was this put to rest?

I concur with Joe above, I always understood that the cigarette lighter matched the headlight / radio knobs, like the one he linked to above; the NOS one that Chuck was selling... my car had a lighter like that... I've never noticed or have seen the so-called "small one" installed in a 1969 Camaro, that I've noticed... could it have been a build plant deviation?

I'm still curious. And, I also have someone looking for one.

Cheers all,
Anthony

The answer is in Section B2 page 12 of the 1969 Camaro Assembly Instruction Manual.

Two lighter assemblies are listed with one noted as 'opt'.

I have the larger knob in my 1969 nova. Its an 11B car so maybe a 1968 left over? Looks to be the same size as the knobs on the 68 cars. Dash mounted. My 69 Z/28 is an 11D car and has the small knob.

Look closely at the one Chuck was selling, that is the smaller knob. It matches in style but not the same size as radio and headlight switch knobs. Thats the same as the ones I have in my pics above also.
This is the only style I have seen in known original cars.
