I had joined the Supercar site in hopes of a Copo or Yenko. Seemed near impossible and I had always loved the 68 Charger. So when this opportunity came up for a hemi i made the drive. The people were incredible and they were a labor of love for their dad. I was socked to see both were of concours quality. Speechless still to own them both.

Wow there's two also cool differences as you look closer, big congrats!
How far apart are the Vins/build dates also are you planning to keep both cars?
Anyone else have a sudden hankering for some Doublemint gum?:hmmm:

Gotta drive them some every once in a while. Keeps things lubricated and working. Sitting just lets them decay.

sappy787 06-05-2022 02:00 AM

I agree. I figure I will make a lap around our neighborhood once a month or so.

Too Many Projects 06-05-2022 03:08 AM

Get it out on the road for 30 miles and get all the accumulated condensation dissipated out of the drive line and exhaust. A short trip without full warm up only makes that worse.

sappy787 06-05-2022 05:14 AM

Thanks for that info. I didn’t know that and appreciate the heads up. So much cash I guess I feel a little worried of hurting a motor but what you mentioned makes a lot of sense. Thanks

I have never hurt a motor in 40 years of WOT gear changes. Broke a few transmissions though.

Congrats! That is some score for sure.
I can't agree enough with Mitch. They like to be driven some. Make sure you get all the fluids up to temp and work the brakes well, emergency brakes, heater, fan, etc. Will save you a lot of headaches in the future.

Could maybe run 'em down to the end of the driveway in the morning ...?

Bill Pritchard 06-05-2022 06:43 PM

You don't have to drive 'em like you stole 'em, but as Mitch says, at least a few times a year you want to get them out and run them at highway speed (or slightly above :naughty: ) for a while. Should be able to find some nice open roads there in Iowa! Pretty soon, you won't need much of an excuse to do that.

gtomike1967 06-06-2022 11:27 PM

Wow, congrats! Any info on how the previous owner acquired 2 almost identical and rare cars?

sappy787 06-08-2022 03:00 AM

Hemi's arrived home today

I got the 2 Hemi's home today and man the sun made them pop. I questioned myself the last few days until they rolled off the trailer. I knew I did the right thing after parking them ... Feeling blessed for sure...

sappy787 06-09-2022 02:31 AM

if I'm not mistaken its the maroon interior with the burgundy paint makes its the 1 of 1 for the hemi 68. I need to decode the tag as power windows as well and other options suck as the 15" hubcaps I guess is rare for the Hemi

markinnaples 06-13-2022 01:25 AM

What an epic pair, congratulations.

sappy787 06-13-2022 06:51 PM

markinnaples 06-14-2022 02:36 AM

Hello Sappy, Yes, I live in Naples. Been here 24 years now. Right now, however, I am in KY where we go for a month in the summer. Beautiful Chargers you have there, congratulations.

I'd like to have a winter home down there. The summers are too brutal to live year around for us northerners, about like what we are getting today...:rolleyes2: Upper 90's and high humidity.

We were in Sarasota for 10 days in Feb and will be on Pine Island for 3 weeks next winter. We were at the Venice Orchid show in Feb.

frankk 06-16-2022 08:45 PM

Beautiful cars....but it begs the question can you smoke the tires from here to kingdom come haha

WILMASBOYL78 06-16-2022 10:45 PM
