Lemans Blue - /CHECK
I think Dave sent me photos a couple of weeks ago.
When I saw the photos I said you are going to make the deal, right? You wont find another like this. Incredible paper, old Photos, and really nice original finishes in the engine bay. |
Congratulations on the nice find.
looks to have a splice on the quarter panel stripe like on other original stripes. |
Congrats Dave!!!
I must be looking in the wrong spots.....I hope to see more pictures.
Congratulations, Dave. |
Unbelievable. I’m a survivor guy and that’s my favorite color. Goodness gracious. What I would give for that one.
Congrats Dave! What a wonderful example. Can you share more of the story/hunt?

A few more pics

The paint condition on the Blue one appears to be as nice as the paint on the Daytona Yellow one.
10+ years ago Dave had a yellow 69 quarter panel with a Yenko stripe on it hanging in his garage. He said he thought THAT is as close to owning a Yenko Camaro as he would ever get. CHEERS BROTHER! :beers: OR maybe GEARS BROTHER! :3gears: |
You can feel the cord inside his trunk weather-stripping from here.. Congrats!
Love to hear the backstory on this car too. |
it's crazy the amount of HP chev's that have come out of or are in iowa, including a few z16's one of which has been hiding for years,
Man! Great car.
LOL... A friend had been trying to buy that car for 40 years and was sure he would own it when it was time to sell.
Killer car but prior owner purchased it with small block and put a big block in it I believe.
Is this D. Hood's former car that was purchased new at Broadway Chevrolet in Green Bay WI? If it is I believe it does have its original transmission and rearend.
If it is the Donny Hood car and it looks like it is then it was sold new at Bob Johnson Chev in Wausau Wisc. I gave Don the original invoice for the car years ago.
Was it dealer transferred between the two by chance? There were pictures on here of this car a number of years ago and I had written down it was a Broadway car. Maybe that was before you gave him the paperwork.
I gave him the paperwork in the 80s or early 90s
I am going to look for my copies out of Bob Johnson but I also show serial number 615068 to be the Don Hood car and according to Vince's records it came out of Broadway Chev in Greenbay. I will have to find my copies.
Hood
It is the Donnie Hood car. Here at the Albaugh collection we have had many opportunities to buy that car. Some within the last year. I will let Dave elaborate specifics about the car if he wants to.
I would love to know more about this car!!
