Nice '69 Trans Am, Restored in '95
For a 28-year-old restoration, this one has held up really nicely.

Possible Ebay scam here? There is no way a 69 Trans am is under a 100K especially a RA iii.

Except for 55 Ram Air IV cars, all '69 Trans Ams are RAIII.
|
How can you contact folks on Ebay? They don't allow the exchange of contact info until after a sale. The car is not on FBMP.
Any ideas? |

I messaged the guy this morning and I have not gotten a reply.
Not much info in the ad and there is no reserve. |
1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM Ram Air III

Funny I posted that my friend was selling 10 to 12 cars months ago. And one of them was a Ram Air 3 4-speed car with PHS documentation. NO ONE responded. He restored EVERY bit of it from the frame up about 24 years ago. Still looks great! This is what he does for a living for about 40 years now. Danny

I'm wondering if this Ebay car is a scam. No reserve and no info. I've never seen the car around here.
My message to the seller from yesterday: New message to: justabeachguy (28YELLOW_STAR Star) Hello, I'm in Watkinsville (I was just in Social Circle on Friday), are you available to show the car? Does the car have the original/born with/numbers/matching engine, transmission, rear end, carb, ect? Thanks |

Sorry, I should not have done that. When it was posted that it is impossible to find one for under 100K. I was just making the statement that my friend's car was starting at 90K but no one even asked about it or the price. Or for a list of any of the other cars. The car I posted is NOT the ebay car. D
|
The Ebay guy ended the listing early.
He must have had someone else working out a deal. I wish he would have contacted me. He's about 30 minutes away. All back country roads. Most junk is on the west side of Atlanta, and it can stay there. The traffic is ridiculous, 24/7. |
So we’re sure this eBay car was not a scam?
|
The seller responded to me late yesterday with the actual VIN and PHS docs

Many people RIGHT behind me also want it." No mention of it being for sale or a price. Only thing was that you wanted it.. No wonder no one inquired. Must have been another post buried in another thread. |

No mention of it being for sale or a price.
Stating that it was starting at 90K surely means it's "For Sale".... Why else would I make that statement? AND it has the price built right in with THAT statement. All in one sentence. I was just wondering why someone didn't say, WOW, is that really the price, 90K... I am still trying to buy it. But things are on hold right now on ALL his cars. I asked him why, and he said he didn't want to talk about it. So I left it at that. That was 10 days ago. D |
Lol ok. Even though your previous thread made no mention of it being for sale until today in this thread. Hope you buy it.. :rolleyes2:

I've been trying to buy a '69 T/A for 20 years and something always gets sideways. Same with a Superbird. The Superbirds have gotten way passed what I consider their worth and the T/As are following suit. |

If he wants 90k for the car, I'll need his wire info. |
No kidding eh...Sale of any of the cars would have to be in CASH in person only. I would do the same. I'm not paying income tax on an extra 90K. But I get your point. Hopefully it will be in my shop some day soon... D

I'm still wondering if it was a scam because I told the guy I was local and wanted to see the car and never heard anything back. This was before he sent you information on the car, so it would still have been available. I also reached out after the Ebay ad was taken down and got no reply. |
Remember, I messed up and posted about my friend's car with pictures of HIS car. The second car is my friends. I don't know anything about the first car in the post from eBay.
I can assure you my friend's car is real and not a scam. I should not have posted anything until I owned it. I know better. D |
From the way I read it, I believe Danny Star is posting about a different car that his buddy restored. NOT the original car from the pist that is/was on EBay.
