Whats It Worth - USA 1 - License Plates
2 Attachment(s)
What is a set of these plates worth as they are brand new, in the original packaging/box?
Thanks, Paul |
Thay have come down slightly over the last 3 or 4 years. Why, I don't know. Used to be $200 in this condition, now $125ea. I have bought 3 in the last couple years. I need 2 or 3 more.
Here is one I am looking at in perfect condition... Danny https://www.ebay.com/itm/22567740880...iABEgJgvvD_BwE |
USA-1 Plate
Here is another super nice one like yours. He is asking $200. There are some others all the way up to $2,000. I paid $100 for my last one. This one has the dashes in between. D

The steel ones are harder to find & I would think they would bring a little more money than the later aluminum style. The aluminum ones were under 5 bucks in 1976 at the dealer. I had several at that time. Never seen new steel plates then. There's one on e-bay for 1,999.00. I doubt it will sell, but I've been wrong before. I bought a nice steel one for my little collection a few years back...Joe

I messed up. Disregard those other links, I clicked on the wrong ones.
Here is the steel one like yours for $279. So maybe start yours at $250. I wouldn't go any lower than $200.. D https://www.ebay.com/itm/39281546679...Bk9SR57hhvyyYg |
I think the plate on my 69 is a little different. I am seeing some grayish white (?) around the characters. Would not mind a newer plate myself if it matched the one I had.
Sorry for the links, have not posted pictures for a while (forgot how again). https://www.flickr.com/photos/196053...es-55AHk86H6g/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/196053...es-6kC236RHt2/ |

The steel plate with the green backs as you have shown were introduced in 1974, per the original dealer merchandising catalog (shown below with the other 1974 promo plate). By 1976 they switched over to the aluminum "high gloss" reflective version, which is much more common.
Great piece! I'd love to have one, but probably out of my price range. https://i.imgur.com/H6OggDA.png |
