Ordering a New Corvette?
Supposedly, Chevy dealers are now taking orders for the 2024 Z06 as of today.
In about a month they will start taking orders for the Eray, which is actually slightly quicker to 60 (2.5 vs 2.6). HP is almost the same with the Z06 having 15 more, but the Eray being able to use more because the electric motor drives the front wheels. Obviously, neither is a slug. The Z06 still has that AMAZING flat plane crank V8 sound that the Eray will not have. First decision will be which one. Either way, I was hoping for some input on pre orders and if there are ANY dealers that will sell for MSRP (or "sticker" price as I don't think MSRP includes gas guzzler tax or whatever). Any insights? |
for me i always have to have the noise. the electric is a hauler but it would be like a rollercoaster speed.

Local Chevy dealer quoted:
$10k non refundable deposit for a Z06. Fine with that. Wait time of 3-5 years. Ouch! $45k OVER sticker. Not fine with that. They can't take deposits on the Eray until late August. Not sure of the wait time or the mark up (excuse me.... market adjustment). |
Guess this memo did not scare any of the dealers.

So, I guess print that article and bring it with you when you go to purchase a new C8 'Vette. See what happens.

The 3-5 year wait is for a Z06, so I assume it just rolls over the next year. Once I heard $45k "market adjustment" and 3-5 wait, I didn't stick around to figure out the details.

Lots of dealers (or the reps) on line putting in print that they don't care what GM says, they can charge what they want, because the "S" in MSRP stands for "suggested". Apparently there are no repercussions to thumbing your nose at GM.

Order from MacMulkin Chevrolet in NH. They sell at MSRP but you will be on a wait list.
|
I already contacted MacMulkin, and already received the packet.

Agreement and deposit mailed today.

You ordered the Z06? How long do they think it will take to get it?
|
If GM was actually serious, they would fine any dealer 2x for the advertised markup and put them in a timeout for future allotment of any new ‘Vettes. The old Japanese inspection always works….always.

Ordered the ERay. I know that is anathema to many on this site.
A little quicker 0-60, and even a bit less expensive. I plan to order the ZER performance package which means summer high performance tires (among other things). What do I need all weather tires for? Like I am going to drive it in the snow. That's what the Yukon XL Denali is for. The reason I say "plan to" is that they cannot accept my "build and price" configuration as I set it up on the website because they won't build the first E-Ray until after September 7. So, there could be some last minute changes to available options and pricing. I also figure that the E-Ray, not having been fully accepted by some of the "purists" in the Corvette world, might not be as long a wait. I have not received any info on where I am in line, but should get that some time next week. They don't put you in cue until they get the $$$$. |

Yes. Highest volume Corvette dealer in the world.
No "market adjustment". Direct Quote: "Your final price will be MSRP including our administrative fee of $472 for out of State deals or $499 for NH customers. We collect your estimated tax and registration fees for your state. All vehicles must be registered prior to delivery. We report the car delivered to GM once the car is built and invoiced. All vehicles must be paid within 7 days of the car being built." |
The new Vette probably isn’t for everyone, but I personally like it….a lot. And the E-Ray really moves out. Plus, for the money, nothing really rivals it…..
This is one of the first videos from 6 months ago on the E-Ray Corvette by Emelia Hartford…… https://youtu.be/iJf194ci4lA |
The Z06 is a more raw, track minded, on the edge type of machine. The E-Ray is more grand touring style. Just don't see being able to drive the Z06 at 9/10, let alone 10/10 without visiting a track; even then, I don't have the skills or experience to take advantage of what it has to offer. Just trying to be realistic.
So what if the E-Ray still has a pushrod V8? I doubt that will enter my mind once while tooling down the road. |

GM doesn't like it because they don't want to listen to customers complain but they ultimately know that if people really didn't like it, they wouldn't pay it. BTW, just delivered my 2nd Z06 yesterday(no, I do not have any availability and my waitlist is 4-5 years wait time). |
I really don't want to debate the legality or morality of the mark ups. It is what it is; and it isn't likely anyone is going to change their position based on an internet argument.
I am just thankful I found a place that WOULD sell for sticker. |
I think the ERay is pretty cool. And in my opinion, hybrids are a far, far, far better option than full EV's.

The E-Ray will be great. The LT2 is a great engine and with the electric motors, it's more than most folks need anyway. The only "downside" I see to the E-Ray would be the carbon ceramic brakes. For a car that they want driven in the winter, CCBs aren't the most driver friendly choice. They do not want to work until they get warm so you have to make sure to brake early when they're cold. |

They may have missed the boat by not going plug-in hybrid. They could have easily made this car go up to 10 miles on just the electric plug-in charge. Think about it: assuming you have a short commute, you drive your E-Ray to the office and use no gas. When you want to have a blast, have a blast.

Any C8 aficionados on here?
Debating on summer tires vs the standard all season tire. $500 upcharge for summer only. Slightly better grip (about 10% on the skid pad). Consensus on the Corvette forum is there are no other changes to the suspension when ordering ZER suspension package. But, I trust the guys on this forum more than that one. No chance I will drive it in ice or snow. |

If you plan on driving it in cold temps, don't get ZER. Those tires don't like cold temps at all. They don't grip very well and they can crack when cold. The ZER tires will likely wear worse than the all seasons too. $500 isn't much if you're just gonna use it on nice or warmer days though. |
According to some of the guys posting in this thread, the RPO code difference is ONLY the tires.

I know the development team, I'll ask.

Decided on the E-Ray, so no gas guzzler tax. Figured the Z06 would take more "commitment" to drive than the E-Ray. Not many places around here I can take advantage of the 8600 rpm redline.

GM Establishes Ownership Mandates for the 2024 Corvette Z06 to Counteract Flipping

Doesn't affect me, as I won't be flipping it.
|
Ah, the old carrot or stick theory!
How about telling buyers if they keep the car without flipping it for three years, the warranty period gets extended by 100% :hmmm: It's kind of the inverse of what they are doing with the wrranty void if flipped within 6 months. |
