Great engine shot! April of 1968. Drag pic is 1971.

396-375 L78 a thing of beauty. My brother inlaw ordered one right after his discharge from Vietnam. The kicker, when he was ready to sell it back in 1973 he wanted 1,800.00 dollars for it. All stock, no headers, original wheels, 4 speed, 4.10 factory gears. I can't even think about it anymore after i failed to buy that beast.

Good eye on the TA and very rare. That is a great back in the day pic of the 68 Camaro and Chevelle launching.

I think that is Byron, and how cool is that engine shot.
Just a note, the date on photos back then is the date it was developed, meaning you could take a picture, and not have it developed right away.My Aunt used to wait till she had at least 10 rolls filled up,before she'd even consider taking them in to be developed.

Thru out the 80s A nice 69 T/A 4 speed was parked down the block from my families
Business in East Los Angeles, The Guy would drive it every weeks and always was willing to sell it, HE was firm at $600 and said he wanted to keep his 15X10 mags and N50s on the rear
and would remove the extended shackles!

This is my good friend, Robert (Bob) Holden, who posted his car and history on Facebook. He’s got a lot of great stories and had a few fast cars back in the day…....I remember him telling me how he read a lot of magazines back in the day and knew that the Muncie shifter sucked…..so the second day he owned the car, he removed that from the car right away, added traction bars and a tach…..

Here’s his story and a couple more photos, for those who don’t have Facebook.

Greetings Guys; Thank you for all the “likes”. Four years ago a friend said I should write a book with lots of pictures. So I guess that ya all have seen chapters 64 & 65 now. Basically the Vette was a 19th birthday present to myself. With so few outomibiles that could Rev past 6000 back in 65 if you could few could get past ya. Life got in the way of long ownership of the little silver Vette as that November I received my report for service notification. Can you say “Brown Soft Smelly Stuff”, I wasn’t very enthused about dying! During my absents (basic training) Pa said ya better sell that Vette as its “loosing value every day”? I think E-1 pay was $80 per month & my payment was about $45. Of course my room & board was included! Home on leave, Pa had taken a 61 Chevy 4 door I-6 in trade & loan was paid off. I drove the 61 once & told pa to get rid of it ASP. Now ya have a Car Junkie with “OUT” a Performance car. But I now have savings & no car, regulated to bike cycle in North African. Oh ya we got beer & beach, did I mention sand! Few cars there & everything that has been there a few years is sand blasted dull. For you that have read this far, Now is meat, I save become a loan shark 10 for 20, guys can’t budget. I walk into the GM Base Exchange office (6’x 8’) & order the Vette replacement. We had magazines so I knew what was going on back in the states. GM was advertising this Z-28 Camaro with this little 302. Na I already had a 4” bore 3” stroke with same cam in the 55 Chevy. The Car magazines are all talkin’ about the L-78 Camaro & Mr. Jenkins! 94 extra cubes more than a Z, both engines have 11.25 to 1 compression, solid lifter cams & Holley 780 carbs. Both engines are makin’ about “One horse per cube”, why would anyone buy a Z-28?? Well I ordered one L-78 Camaro December 0f 67 & March of 68 it shows up back home. List was $3900, with APO discount $3150 delivered. Don’t we wish today! Ole' Bob.
