Door Striker Bolt ????
Looking for Accurate Reproduction Door Striker Bolt
with TORX looking head.............although Ive read these were not actually TORX .... CHQ offers a Bolt with Allen Head I removed "TORX" style from my 07E Norwood 70 Camaro |
My 1969 Camaro built 8/28/1969 also had/has torx. I finally found some NOS stikers on Ebay. The oe part number is 8770193...Joe

What about these? (on ebay...not mine, just found them w/a quick search).
I don't think anyone repros these with both the rotating integral sleeve and the Torx head. Note: There seem to be plenty of the NOS GM Torx version.....WITHOUT the rotating sleeve. But probably incorrect for what you need. I'm not a Chevy/Camaro expert but have dealt w/buying these occasionally for Olds and Buick customers. AMK Products used to show them in their repro fasteners, etc catalog but I asked them a few times about them and they apparently never had them made. ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/17604795647...d48747c6d56d2c |
You are in Washington state and you can't find these in a salvage yard?
|
Many years ago i used to go to junk yards and remove these from 4 door cars the ones on the rear doors had hardly any use on them
|
I have not yet tried finding old used striker bolts...........
I only see the New ALLEN Head Versions being sold ??? Just curious why the original TORX head style are not reproduced |
Who knows why??? May be a deal where MOST folks are fine w/just getting a new set, even if not EXACTLY like the originals.......they can buy a new pair for relatively cheap $. I'd wager to say that most owners aren't really that worried about the "variation" in the looks...functionality is the same. Many others aren't even aware there is a difference.
So....the repro folks invest once and meet most of the demand. Would be interesting to know exactly which years used which style across the GM brand/model lines.....that might tell you where the most "demand"(ie - torx vs. allen head) would be. |

I recently removed these from a Chevelle I am re-restoring, no idea of source.
If you can clean/refinish them for use pm me your address and I'll fire them your way. Bill W |

DR Classics sells a striker with the rotating sleeve and I "think" the head is torx.

Those look like Allen head to me.
|
Kinda hard to see well at that angle. I think the set I bought are torx, but the car is in storage, so I can't look at them right now.

These came off a '67 Malibu that was, ahem, "restored", 25 years ago using what ever fasteners were close at hand (hardware store ) etc. Everything else in my garage (66-67) is hex. :beers: |
Now you're going to make me go out in the unheated, back shed, get the ladder out and climb up to open the door...:smirk: I need to measure for a new driveshaft too. That will be fun with the '38 under it.

Camaro Door Striker
The transition from Allen to Torx striker began late production 1969. I know they were in Sept of 69 built cars but also could be found in Aug cars.

My late 09D car has the Torx.

One of my 70' Camaro GURU Friends turned me on to this EBAY Link selling
TORX Head Striker Bolts........... https://www.ebay.com/itm/181026053950 Im still curious if the ORIGINAL "TORX" were something other than "TORX" and if so, what tool is used to install this ??? Bolt...........and are the Reproductions "TORX" or ???? Confused Yet |
I'll see if I have a proper sized Torx socket tomorrow and I'll try it on an '70 original Olds striker as well as a pair of NOS strikers I have.
Thanks for posting that link.....I'll stand corrected on my statement above ("not repro'd"). |
