Vintage Certification™ is again proud and excited to be a part of the MCACN experience, hard to believe it's our 15th year at this show and 25th anniversary of Vintage Certification program. By now everyone should know this is a must attend event. Come Join Us and have your car Vintage Certified at MCACN Nov 23rd & 24th in Chicago

Vintage Certification™ is a judging program whose sole purpose is to recognize, provide status, provenance, and promote un-restored (survivor) vehicles. We believe it is the only program that focuses on documenting and benchmarking these cars. Our core certification team consists of Brett Merryman, Barry Martin, Paul Martin, Lloyd Costley, Steve Minore, Chris White, Scott Tiemann, Frank Badalson, Rich Johns, Gary Bosselman, Jason Billups, John Ballard, Steve Shauger, Jody Anderson, Alex Sahely, Mitch Despen and other marque specialists based on make and model. Each core team member possesses over 30 years' experience as restorers, collectors, historians and judges in the hobby. Typically, we spend 3hrs examining in detail every segment of your car including the underbody on a lift. To learn more about Vintage Certification visit our website at www.vintagecertification.com or the MCACN website at www.mcacn.com. This is the perfect venue to have your vehicle certified. You will be among and exclusive group of enthusiasts who participate in this exciting event.

We understand not every original car is 100% untouched, and we offer five levels of certification, based on the originality of the Vehicle.
Vintage Certifications™ five divisions:

Vintage Time Capsule - Vehicles that are 95+% unrestored in all reference areas
Vintage Legend - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in all reference areas.
Vintage Heritage - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in five reference areas.
Vintage Legacy - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in four reference areas
Vintage Reference - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in three reference area.

Reference Areas: Certification consists of two areas of consideration, Originality and Preservation. Reference areas are as follows:
• Operation
• Engine Compartment Area
• Exterior Body
• Interior Body
• Underbody
• Trunk (except Corvette)

This year's Vintage participation requests have been overwhelming. We were essentially full by May. We are at out limit, but our team is up to the task.

We are now accepting applications for 2024. We have limited certification slots available and suggest you apply early before they are filled. If you are interested or have questions call or visit our website at: www.vintagecertification.com for more info such as, rules and guidelines and downloadable application.

Hi Dan,

Very much appreciate your kind words. The 69 Hurst Olds was a phenomenal vehicle. Look forward to perhaps a Buick? Regardless we will have the expertise and look forward to seeing you and Joe.

Thanks,

Canuck 12-01-2024 10:31 PM

Very honoured to have been part of the eval team on both the 66 Toronado and Joes 69 Hurst Olds. Both outstanding vehicles that make our work easier. Thanks to Kurt Karch, Mr 69 Hurst Olds memory bank who knows all the assembly line part numbers by heart.
As stated to Jean the NPD collection Custodian the build quality of the Toro was amazing, literally the closed Olds would come to Hand Assembled cars in Quality. The paint was as perfect as cars coming off the assembly line today with much improved painting processes.

----Toronado's rule! I loved one thing especially on the Toro that Paul pointed out to me. When you looked at the 2nd O in the Oldsmobile emblem on the front it appeared a bit bigger than the 1st. It was a GM alarm (I think). Am I correct, Paul?....Bill S

It may have been Mitch,... who told me that is the hood release??

Canuck 12-03-2024 03:10 AM

It was a hood lock using a regular door cylinder replacing the O in Oldsmobile. It was clearly something created by a very clever person using standard coat hanger wire to lock or unlock the hood.

Always my favorite area of the show. I especially liked the white LS6 El Camino - just an honest old car that was well taken care of, but used as it was intended. Thank you to all that brought cars again this year for us to enjoy.

----Jake,,,remember the white 69 El C we dropped the LS5 in to? That's the one in the pic of your Dad in front of the 409 and me wiping down the El C. Got my use out of that ride!....Bill S

Steve, is a car judged differently and are points taken off if there is grease, road grime, and what-have-you on the bottom side or are they just judged on originality?
