Buc-ees is off my bucket list

I finally experience Buc-ees. Well this particular one is off I95 near Daytona. Who'd thunk a gas station would have 104 pumps and store that is almost the size of Costco. The carry an amazing selection of just about anything you could think of...
I believe the gas was under 3 dollars. Every pump was in use with a long line. Here are a few pics. |
Did you get a brisket sandwich??

The damn restrooms are spotless and worth the stop alone! They have everything and it's all good stuff. The brisket and pulled pork are great. Damn good burritos too. If passing through in the morning get a breakfast sandwich, killer. Always stop on my way through multiple times on my trips to Atlanta and Florida. Totally worth it.

When we drove to Houston and back 9 yrs ago, we stopped at one on our drive back to AZ after hearing my brother-in-law raving about it. Unbelievable! There's now one under construction in Goodyear AZ, on the west side of Phoenix.

Buc-ees started out as a small Freeport, Texas convenience store chain. I did lots of business with many of the fuel wholesalers in the area, but since Buc-ees was all retail, I did not call on them. They have taken the C-store market by storm. They are an unbranded station that never posts their prices. They have now become their own brand, and they don't need a Shell, Exxon, or Texaco sign to attract folks like most C-stores. The amount of fuel they sell is staggering, they usually have two 9,200-gallon transports waiting on their lot to fuel their underground tanks and I would imagine they get about six loads of fuel per day at a store. Their inside sales are crazy numbers, also.

Right on Steve

The place is amazing!
|
Made my first trip to Buc-ees on the way home from MCACN last fall with my son Rocky.
|
The original store is about a 50 minute drive from our house.
The big one on 45 south at Dickinson has the best fuel prices of all of them in Houston. I fill up there several times a week. Diesel right now is $2.83 for my Denali and Super Unlededfor my wifes Mini JCW Countryman is under $2.60. It is always a madhouse and especially right now with the spring breakers headed to Galveston island. |
I've driven past them many times in my travels and the lines and crowds are why I never stop.
Waiting to spend my money is just not something I grew up with in the, then, sparsely populated Midwest. I've never been in a Costco either.... |
Steve, enjoy St Augustine ! All the little shops are cool. If you are there overnight, try to book a carriage tour around sunset to see the lights. Also, the lighthouse isn't far away and has a gorgeous view from the top...... of 219 steps...

There’s one just south of Lexington, Ky. On I75 and I heard they’re building one south of Louisville, Ky. on I65. Great sandwiches of all kinds, no semi’s just family travelers.

Previously, we have stopped and it is an amazing place indeed! |
Get you some Beaver nuggets! Take a look at the pay rates for managers. It's pretty good.
|
The jerky is pretty good too. I have gotten the bags which are smaller pieces but I think the bulk is bigger pieces. Will have to do that on the way home. My dad hits the fudge counter. Always a full box that lasts him a while. I have no idea why he doesnt have diabetes
|
I passed the one on IH 10 on the way home from Houston last Saturday. Every pump was full. People leave their car unattended at the pump while they shop. That location has gotten so crowded nobody stops there anymore.
|
The first Buc-ee's in Colorado opened in Johnstown, off Interstate 25, in March 2024.
|
Finally! I can now associate with you. That Daytona location is mine as well when I go to Speedweek for NASCAR.

we love bucees and stop at everyone we pass. my wife even got me a bucees hoody as a gag gift for xmas. to her surprise i actually wear it. i always get comments when i do.
only draw back is i cant stop without spending close to a hundred dollars on food, candy and beef jerkey. |
I stopped at the one in Florence South Carolina last week on the way to the big car show in Myrtle Beach. I've been to 5 or 6 of their stores so far. If you like jerky, you need to try the theirs. The gas is usually a little cheaper than other nearby stations. Every thing in the store is high priced. I spent $75 in the store last week.
