Nothing new on their FB page, last post is from last July.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. The track is cleaned up really well after the flood.
|
Oh my, I didn't hear about the track getting flooded...

Hard to believe.
|
DAMN !! Looks like most of the bleachers on the right were under water. That had to be a heck of a slimy job, cleaning all the silt out/off of everything.
|
Is the track going to reopen?
Still wondering if there will be a SCR? |
Post #6, Freddie said they had it cleaned up. Hopefully, the organizers will get something posted about this.
|
The track has been open for a few weeks. I was told that it was cleaned so well that you couldn't tell it was ever flooded.
I'm looking forward to hearing about a date for SCR this year. That's the one event I really look forward to each year. That's about the only thing I do with my Camaro anymore. |
Hopefully, they can separate from Camaro fest this year.

Speaking of that, how is the new shop/house coming ? Are you cleared to do light work again ? |

Looks like they got it again.

Damn, I was hoping it wouldn't flood and screw up the schedule for summer. Looking at the map last night, though it didn't look good.

Scr 25
My understanding is there will not be a SCR this year and or in the future. This decision had nothing to do with weather related issues. I know this is disappointing to participants and attendees. I hope the organizers will make some official announcement.
|
There’s an old saying that goes something like, “All good things must come to an end”.
Sadly we announce that such is the case for the SCR. It has been difficult but there are many factors that have led to the final decision. We all face changes in our daily lives that have effects on the things we do, those we associate with, ... even on those we love. And there are times we have to make decisions that we don’t like, but have to live with. This is a tough one. Speaking here for the entire SCR Committee, we would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt THANKS to everyone who has participated and supported the SCR for nearly three decades. We know the faces; we’ve been blessed to grow together, to see families grow, to see car collections grow, ..... and sometimes go away. But through all of that we’ve developed and nurtured some friendships that have endured and will continue to grow as we move on. So from the entire Clary family, from Doug and Amy, Jamie and Andi, Schonye and Becky, Greg and Lydia, from Adam and from me, ....we wish everyone the absolute best in the future and hope our paths cross again soon. THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT RUN! |
Hi Dennis-you were the first person that I met from Yenko.net at SCR8 (my first SCR). Thank you for all of the friendships that came from that first meeting!
You are an amazing person-and I will remember all of the great times at the Super Car Reunions Thank you and everyone for all that you did to make those events amazing! :beers: |
That was a great event and met quite a few characters. Many memorable moments and many long lasting friendships. Thanks to all who worked to make this huge sucessful event for 27years. Thank you Dennis, you are a one of a kind and a very special person!!
Best wishes to all... and remember your friends and members want to hear from you all. |
I'm sure going to miss this event and all of the people. I made a lot of friends in the 8 years that I was able to attend. I guess the only time I'll see them now is at MCACN. I'm going to have to find something else to do with my Camaro. SCR was just about the only thing that I used it for.
|
The 2024 SCR was actually the 27th reunion. My first was in 2003 and I was hooked! It was a very unique event, and I don't think there will ever be anything like it again.
I will always be grateful for the great friends I have that I would never have met if not for the SCR! Thanks to all who were a part of all those great years! Jamie |

For sure, Jamie! :) |
SCR 18 was the first event I attended, and I was hooked. I only missed one since then. Like many, it was my first time down the drag strip. Benny and Ed Hedrick where there to help get me staged. Don't remember my time but you couldn't wipe the grin off my face. Ended last year with a PB of 10.91 at 130 mph. Broke a few parts and learned a few things over the years. As others mentioned, I consider lots of these folks' family now. I enjoyed the few years that we cooked BBQ out in the paddock. The year that Bob McClurg roasted Howie for his man of the year award was a classic. I could go on and on. Thanks to all the organizers that put their blood, sweat, and tears into this event. Until next time! Maybe it's time to take the car out on Friday nights for a cruise and enjoy it.

I have met and made a ton of new friends since my first event which if memory serves me was something like 2003. I think Chad and I attended it together but that was a long time ago. The reunion a few years later has special meaning to me because this is also where I was first introduced to Annie, thanks to Cumby, and now here we are many years later. Unfortunately I have not made a show since the last one in Joliet due to our business needing me worse but it will be sorely missed regardless.
|
We went to SCR 14? In 2011? At the Route 66 track in Joliet,IL. We had a blast!
|
My thanks go out to all those who made SCR possible. I attended my first one in 2018 when I brought Rats Nest out for the 1st time. Made many good friends over the last 6 events, attended he last one without the COPO just because I wanted to hang out with the guys.
|
Well, I'm sorry I asked. I was determined to attend this year. My sincerest thanks to the Clary family, to Doug and Amy and to all of the people who worked so hard to put this event together. I met so many fine people and had more fun than I deserved to have, the memories made, the repairs needed from general abuse, and the great conversations.
Well Done to all involved. Thanks again Andy |
I'm saddened by the news also, even though I only came to this forum and learned of the event a few years ago.
I do have a question of, if it is loss of volunteers to have enough help in planning and running the event ? If so, I and possibly others in this community may be able to step up and fill vacancies to keep it alive. It truly is a one of a kind event and will leave a vacuum for super and muscle car owners that attended going forward. |

No disrespect to the organizers for combining them if there was a large financial reason for that. But, to continue doing that would be like combining MCACN with World of Wheels and then, eventually, sending MCACN to the back room of the convention center. If it's a cost increase to go back to "the way it was", then yes, that would need to be assessed and put out to potential participants to gauge willingness to fund it thru participation again. |
Sorry to hear about this,I can understand the decision as nothing lasts forever.
Went to nearly all during the 2000's when it was held in Collinsville Il.Stopped going just before 2020,due to a job change. Thank you to all of you involved with organizing (and feeding) us @ this event in the past,as well as every participant who kept the flame going. :burnout: |
We also lost our biggest sponsor a few years ago.

How would a group go about getting another sponsor ? We have Tim S now... Maybe Charley can get The Brothers to be a major sponsor... |
Indeed sad news.
This was truly a great event for many years. Kind of a "family reunion" and so many great friendships formed. Thanks to all who made it happen for all of the 27 years. Let's all treasure all the great memories, I know I will! Hope to see many of you at MCACN. Bashton |

Doing anything even remotely like that for MCACN will never happen, as we are not only viable and are enjoying growth in nearly every aspect of the show, including sponsorships. Of course, it takes serious work and commitment on the part of many. Bashton |
