Another Yenko found

Another 69 Yenko Camaro barn find. A friend of mine just bought 69 Yenko Camaro serial number 663401. It is a Lemans Blue automatic, 06A, X44, center fuel gauge in dash tach car. It sold new out of Nankivell Chev in Indy. I will post a few pictures tomorrow. It needs full restoration but a good solid car.

Did they get the interior and Yenko installed Hurst Dual Gate Shifter with it?

Great find. They're still out there!

He also bought the 68 camaro that is in the barn with it. The original gooseneck radiator is in the 68, he thinks the CX trans may be in the 68 as well along with the front seats from the Yenko. Hurst dual gate appears to be MIA.

How exactly does one “find” a car of this caliber. I have to imagine they don’t just stumble upon it. Awesome that they are still not all accounted for and this still happens

You just network yourself about the particular kind of car you are into and then you follow up on EVERY lead & rumor you hear about from the glazed eye auto parts store clerks, people that work at assisted-living homes that hear stories, drunk people that wander over to look at your car on an open trailer at gas stations, etc. You dismiss nothing & follow up on everything. Most are wild goose chases but it only takes one story to be legit. I bet everybody here has a story of a car surfacing & suddenly remembering: “OMG, I heard about that car but didn’t believe so I didn’t pursue the lead.”

what a great find - hats off to the detective work. Would love to hear how it was discovered!

When the Yenko VINs became known 40+ years ago, several people [aka "the usual suspects"] immediately ran registration searches. These cars were located at that time, owner wouldn't budge. Over the years, they dropped off DMV records.

Father Time wins again!

I’m 95% sure this is the car that was in a YouTube video from ~10 years ago. I tried to contact the video creator (unsuccessfully). The video did show the 140mph speedometer and I remember the other car next to it.

Don't think so.

That was likely N668616, Fathom Green. Also built with U16 tach/fuel gauge, column auto. The interior was also completely removed, some of the pics are similar.

It was parked with a 1968 Chevelle SS convertible.

mprice 04-07-2025 01:35 PM

Yes Bill this is not that car. I have seen that car.

Great find! Any chance of getting a pic of the TT for the registry?

JoeC 04-07-2025 03:07 PM

NCRS shipping data report has been a big help

That is awesome, and needless to say, would love to see this one at MCACN in November.

BTW; caught up with Greg Joseph this week and he asked about you and said Hello. Hoping he will be joining us this year.

I will take a picture of the trim tag and post it here. Good to hear Greg Joseph is still into the cars I haven't talked to him for more than a few years.

Hey Mitch- Thanks for posting! What a cool find! I remember back in the 80's my friend Jay(from Walpole) scooping up a few COPOs.. He mentioned to me recently you were on here so just thought I'd say hello! He's helped me a lot with my L78 Pacer

chevyman0429 04-08-2025 01:35 PM

Awesome find! Would love to hear the back story on this car and how it came about! Thanks for sharing.

Close, 1968 SS with vinyl top.

I was curious if the car was hiding in Indiana still being a Nankivell car.

SMS 04-16-2025 01:43 PM

Vey cool story and car. I grew up by Nankivell Chevrolet and was there a lot with my Dad, drooling over all the cool stuff that came thru there.

dykstra 05-19-2025 10:22 AM

Any new updates with this find?
