Re: Bill Mitchell Concepts /Camaros
Here is the only piece that I could find about these cars. This is from a Hot Rod magazine special Camaro edition, printed in 1982. They probably had an article in an earlier magazine about the car, but I dont have that. By the way, it almost broke my heart to crop out the Dana Camaro that was on the top half of the page, but I try to have mercy on the slow modem users out there. So anyone who needs to see that can look here. http://www.sonic.net/bbdon/free/mitch1.jpg

There is a Bill Mitchell Camaro for sale at www.volocars.com. Look under the inventory for Camaros. It looks good in the photo, says 29,000 miles, for $15k.

Re: Bill Mitchell Concepts /Camaros
That is a neat car but I just want to remind everyone that Jay at Volo knowingly tried to sell me a Fake LS6 Chevelle convert. a few months ago. He was telling me it was All real and correct , not a Fake when he actually referred the guy that had the car built to the person that actually built the car.

Re: Bill Mitchell Concepts /Camaros
I read Volo's description of the 72 Nova that they have for sale, and realized that they are either liars or ignorant. Maybe they get their information from IgnitionMan?

Re: Bill Mitchell Concepts /Camaros
When I was at college my friend purchased and drove a used "Bill Mitchell Camaro". He purchased it out of a Pennsylvania auto trader magazine and used it as a daily driver. The car was a late second generation body style car (1978-1981) red with gold wheels. Nobody at school had any idea what the car was (nobody knew what a "Yenko" car was either). I spoke into him at Carlisle (during the Camaro show)recently, and he told me that he sold it. I will contact him and ask him if he still has any literature.

I also think there was an article on the Bill Mitchell cars in Motor Trend in that time period.

Re: Bill Mitchell Concepts /Camaros
Sorry, I guess this thread was dead, but I found some more stuff in the archives, so here goes, its alive again. This is a five page plus article on the Mitchell Camaro, with lots of detail and background information. Every now and then while reading this site, I get a little bummed out, thinking that I can never find a supercar myself. It seems like all of the Yenkos must be found and restored already. And I cant afford one. An article like this one can really cheer me up. Some of the cars in this article must still be out there somewhere, just waiting for someone to find them and know what he is looking at. A Donahue Camaro? A Mitchell Monza? Who even knew they existed? But they must be out there.

Bill Mitchell Concept Camaro
Motor trend article which is still online today gives the correct history regarding the Bill Mitchell Concept Camaro's late 1970's early 1980's. I knew of four of them most were 1977, one I know was a 1979 (Berlinetta) - I don't believe any were a "Z".
Here is the article title if you still are looking for more detailed information: Bill Mitchell 1980 Chevrolet Camaro - The Concept Camaro An original, unrestored, early image of Pro Touring Robert McGaffinPhotographerRo McGonegal Writer Jan 01, 2012 Cat |
Robert McGaffin is on FB if anyone has an interest to ask him for copies of the pics.
