1967 400 mile Camaro 396
I have a friend with a 1967 396/375 Camaro with only 400 miles. The car was used for racing and after the class was opened up to admit the 427 cars he no longer raced it. The car has basically sat in his shop since then under a cover. It is in mint unrestored condition, unmolested and original. The interior still smells new. He was also thr class winner. I believe he had the car running 11.5's. It is an amazing piece of history.

Re: 1967 400 mile Camaro 396
I have spoken to the owner of the car after recieving some interest in it. He would be interested in selling it. If you e-mail me a name and phone number i would be more than happy to put anyone in contact with the owner. And yes he is the origional owner.

Re: 1967 400 mile Camaro 396
I would think it would at least be a little bit molested to run 11.50's. :-)

Re: 1967 400 mile Camaro 396

Nope

Re: 1967 400 mile Camaro 396
This reminds me. What ever happened to the guy who was willed a '69 Baldwin Motion by his grandfather in an old post on this site?

Re: 1967 400 mile Camaro 396
I have given any phone numbers given to me to Tony, who is the owner of the car. I am sorry he has not called anyone back. He is no hurry here.
The car is an RS/SS. The color is either black or dark blue. If I can answer any questions in the mean time feel free to ask. |
So..... It has been a little while since this thread was opened. I just happen to be taking a look at my old posts and got curious about the old 396 375 with 400 miles on it.
Tony Meehan of Hoboken NJ was the owner of the car. He has since passed away. He and his wife Debbie who ran a garage in Hoboken (right near Observer Highway) sold their property and moved down to central Florida a little while after my original post about the car. In doing an internet search i foud this video from a few years back made by Tony's son... https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2012/0...n-hemmings-tv/ I remember sitting in the Vette in the garage in Hoboken!!! Tony had a lot of interesting stuff.... |
So what happened with the Camaro?
|
Been awhile? 17 Years. I'm curious about the car too.

I'm thinking this must be the 400 mile Camaro, and I'm guessing the car isn't leaving his collection any time soon. What a gorgeous original survivor.... love the cowl plenum setup!

Fantastic car ! But 375 horse ? 5500 tach, Automatic trans.

...:flag: |
who orders an am fm in a drag car? rear antenna-spoiler? didn't sound like no L78 when he was power braking those skinny tires
|
That is the car!!!! The last time I saw it it was in the corner of a large dark industrial garage surrounded by parts and other cars.. wow!!
|
400 miles? Why has the engine been obviously taken out and rebuilt and repainted? No need to repaint an engine with only 400 miles. Spoiler too? 5500 redline?
|
Cool camaro, but I too saw the 5500 redline tach and had to question which one is wrong.

no auto trans in a 67 l78 camaro.
|
Looks like in addition to making it a 375 hp he added a rear spoiler.
|
Manual shift transmission only in 67 L78 Camaros. Any pictures of the cowl tag?
|
Wonder how they got that cowl plenum under the stock SS hood? I’ve been told that it won’t fit?

Either the intake/carb were changed or the trans / tach was changed. I'd guess the former.
Another 'nothing has been changed' but things were.... Still a nice car. |
As presented, it's a one of none.
|
I’d sure like to see the trim tag. Even if it was only an L35, I wouldn’t kick it outta my garage!
|
Judging by the markings on the ends of the heads they are oval ports. A few things have been changed on that engine.

Yep, 325 horse car.
|
Has a lift hook on the intake. Did '67s have those? And ugh, those spoilers.
|
The heads are clearly round port.

No hooks! Come on they look cool.
