1970 Judge Color breakdown
Does anyone know the exact color breakdown for 70 Judges? I know that Mint Turquoise was the most rare color for 70 GTO production followed by Orbit Orange, Starlight black was third or fourth in least produced colors. Atoll blue was the most popular. No one seems to have the color breakdown for the Judges, anyone have any info?

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Hi, the colors are broke down in a GTOAA june 1997 legend. The Orbitorange(618) is lowest, mint turq(774), burgundy(1,246),palmino copper(1,457), black(1,515). this is list for GTOs. I've not seen breakdown for color # for Judges.

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
There's some guy on the PY site who has compiled some care, but it's less than scientific. For example, he has no Atoll Blue cars, even though I think they are in the top 3 of the most popular Judge colors.
What I think is cool is Orbit Orange standard GTOs. I know of one. Was the car in Two Lane Blacktop another one? |
Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
There was a 455 D-port, convt @ the 96 nats in Atlanta. It was orig. orbitorange non judge. As I said before GTO AA has list of GTO colors, but no # breakdown for Judges. Atoll blue the most common, after seeing so many green ones out there, I'm surprised.

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
The one in Atlanta was the one I was talking about.
The production figures by color are available in a few books, most notable Tom Demauro's. I believe all the dark greens were pretty much "up there" in popularity, if memory serves correct. |
Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Hi, alth ough I was born @ end of 1960s, i think the green was popular among the GIs. They were prob. so used to seeing it all the time. The car in Atlanta was a rough one. Do you have any pontiacs??

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Atoll Blue was popular I know of three RA IV Judges. One was owned by GTO_Don, another one was right down the street and a third one was at the nationals a few years back. I should try to hook up with Jim M, the company I work for has software that takes micro film and digitizes it. You can then perform searches for particular codes and phrases like L67 or Ram Air IV, color codes or even search by vin or dealer . It would be awesome to have that type of a tool available to really crunch some numbers, you could then cross reference to VIN's that are still active and ones not yet found to see what is left out there.

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Does anyone have any pics of different colored judges than what I've seen? I've only seen orange and silver judges, and maybe a pic of a yellow one? I'm not a real big pontiac fan, so I've never seen any other colors than what I've seen at the local car shows. Thanks guys!

There is no color breakdown for 1970 Judge's.
The color breakdown is for all 1970 GTO's. View the breakdown here: http://ultimategto.com/70colors.htm Steve |

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
My website has both the blue 71 Judge that I purchased from DaJudge and a Matador Red 69 Judge in the sold cars gallery.
www.classicauto-sales.com May be a few other Judges on the site as well! BTW, the blue 71 was the first 71 Judge built, and the factory show car in 71. Colin |

I am ALWAYS looking as you know. Any Judge's or 69-74 TA's out there? I only have a Grand National now. Looks stock but runs low 11's Not with the child seat in it. But it could! I stopped by your store the other day and talked "cars" with Bill. Your place certainly is really busy this time of year! |

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Steve its me Pete in British Columbia.. I knew you would regret selling that baby , if you go to www.ultimategto.com My Judge is on the first page stageing with the 55 chevy , a buddy owned it and they looked good together, like two lane blacktop!! :>

Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
Hi Pete, you are correct on the regret of selling it.
I have had a few cars since. None of my GTO's match up to the Orbit Orange color. Looks great night or day. Almost glows at night especially with the orange in the stripes glowing. I am sure it will pass thru my hands again SOON! |

[/ QUOTE ] Steve, Pete's Judge is my favorite Judge, but it came to be because of YOUR Judge on Stratham's cover! What do you guys think of painting a '72 with Orbit "O" with the judge stripes (but deleting the Judge insignias, of course)? The Judge in "Two Lane Blacktop" was Orbit Orange but had the "GTO" decals because it was not a Judge. (I know this because I lost a bet on it!) I just can't find a color I like for '72 besides Cardinal red. Do you think it would depreciate the Goat if I used Orbit? Do you think it would add value if I used a '72 color like Cardinal Red? Congrats to you guys who have or have owned Orbit-O Judges-- the nicest-looking car EVER produced... IMHO. Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
GOAT72,
Thanks! That was a great day when the author Steve called me and told me my Judge was going to be on the cover. I was shocked. Paint your car any color you want. Cardinal Red is a stunning color also. Can't go wrong with Orbit Orange. Orbit Orange was never used on ANY other GM, Ford or Mopar. It was only applied to 1970 GTO's. There is a color Chevy uses now for fleet vehicles and work trucks called ??? It looks very close to Orbit Orange. |
Re: 1970 Judge Color breakdown
What's the original color for your 72?
