Is this a real deal

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Here is the link. Yenko Chevelle Opening bid seems a tad high for a car that needs restoration.

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Says clone in the add..so my guess is no..not the real deal.

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Get a look at the window sticker! Window Sticker https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif Who's he kidding with that? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I didn't see anything about it being a clone. For $350K it better be about 10 Yenko clones.
James "This car needs a good exterior cosmetic paint restoration back to the original tuxedo black." I guess this answers the question. This would be the first "original tuxedo black" Yenko Chevelle. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif James |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Love the window sticker. McMurray, PA? hum... thought Yenko was in Canonsburg in '69. Found in driver's seat back (thought they went on the window). Black when all others I have seen were red. And "Special chasis feathers". https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I read an ad in hemmings a couple of years a ago similar to this car, wondering if this is the car

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I did not see anything about clone in the description either. But the window sticker looks like one that can be bought on ebay. I also question blue paint on the engine block. And crappy pics, and none of the engine pad. Roger

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
"Don Yenko says he built only three or four L-88 Chevelles for customers that he recalls (according to an interview in Muscle Car Review Aprial 1987) and out of those three or four how many also had the L-89 Aluminum Heads options as well."
Among other things,RPO L-88 already includes Aluminum heads,it's not an extra on top of that.....Craptastic! |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
The VIN, 136379B397125, is not on the list of Yenko Chevelles. How many emails do you think he has already telling him he is full of it??

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I think I have seen this in Hemmings at some point too.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Yep, and I think most of us Yenko-nuts have called him.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Is this the one in NJ? Been in Hemmings about 3-4 times? If it's the same guy, it was an interesting story from three or four years ago.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Yes that is the car that has been listed in Hemmings for sale for the past 10 years. I had the pleasure of speaking with him via telephone about 10 years ago... a real winner on the phone. A first class jerk! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I agree with the last phrase for sure! A real friendly guy, a total expert, the rest of us were just idiots.
The only intelligent thing he said was that Warren had a folder on his car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
And Warren said ?
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Never got that far, he had it priced so far out of sight that nobody ever took him seriously. Now that Warren has become more visible to the hobby, it might warrant further investigation. To my knowledge, the seller had not obtained the doc's from Warren when it was in Hemmings several years ago. Today, I'm not sure. Supposed to be one of 3 race prepped 'velles that were not COPO's.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Not a COPO? But it's listed on the window sticker! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Yep, so nicely done too! Since when was 'COPO' an RPO #?
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Warren does not have anything on the car, nor remember it.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Sounds like case closed to me.
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Sorry guys, got this one confused with the "other" one on E-bay https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif..got to speak with this gentleman several years ago at a show...a real winner.

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
This guy's story is laughable. "Paperwork to document authenticity comes with the original window sticker from Yenko Chevrolet which is in perfect shape and was found in driver’s seatback."
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif It must have gotten stuck in there on the way home from Kinkos. Not to mention, there isn't a single legit Yenko piece on this car, from the repro tail panel emblem, which is naturally placed incorrectly, to the crude out of proportion repop stripe kit, which also looks suspiciously fresh as compared to the rest of the car. I doubt if this thing has even been a "Yenko clone" for very long, if you even wanna call it that. A total fabrication, and an outright lie. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif I just love that high optic tach mount for the seeing impaired...musta been an early precursor to the hood tach. If it needs to be that in your face, why not just mount it to the visor on your helmet? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif I'd love to see the e-mail's in this guy's inbox. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
i think we should all wait and see what info bain finds out from greg, it may be one of those cars, like his, that only greg has the papers for, ya know one of those that the people thats been in the business for 40 years doesn't know about, yet!
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Can't someone run a NICB report on the VIN to see if the car was even delivered to Yenko to begin with? It sure looks like a clone. The stripes are all wrong as is the emblem. Either that or it was a prototype like the 6 cyl Yenko Deuce! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
No need to even waste the time or expense of running an NICB on this one. It's an obviously fabricated car, with the fabricated story and fabricated docs to go along with it. Either that or it's the only L-88/L-89 RPO'd COPO/Yenko with '68 alternator brackets, special chassis "feathers" and making it even more special is the fact that was delivered to a Yenko address that didn't even exist until 2+ years after the car was built. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif
Funny...doesn't that Yenko crest on the window sticker look like an emblem that was laid right on the platen glass of a Xerox machine? A better question would be what does make this guy or anyone for that matter think he's looking at a legit Yenko car? This guy cracks me up, who does he think is going to belive that window sticker is for real? It's not even in color, nor does it resemble any factory or Yenko installed window sticker in any way, even if you get past the misspellings and all around lunacy of the whole elementary school subterfuge. I'm really surprised someone hasn't got the auction pulled already. |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Don't know where all the Yenko BS is from but it may be a real 427 COPO Chevelle. I tried many times to get the rear end code from him about 10yrs ago when he only wanted 100K for the car. He told me to buy the car first then I can get all the numbers I wanted
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
See Joe, you missed the boat... now its gonna cost you 250,000 more. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif
I can't believe no one has placed a bid yet... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I remember when it was in the local trading times mag for 75k 20 years ago. He would never let me see the car. BUT HE'S ALLWAYS SWORE IT WAS REAL!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I have a question about this car. If Yenko installed a new L88 engine in the car in 69 or later wouldn't the block be stamped as a CE replacement block?
James |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
<font color="blue">OK Keith, Get on it.
Another letter to another scammer. Maybe you can offer him, like, $150,000 off e-bay. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gifSchool him for humors sake & maybe he will sell the car for the 10 or 15K it's worth. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif </font> |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I can't believe that some people would even fall for this crap and actually purchase a car like this without even checking it out. More money than brains i guess. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
It's a very interesting looking trim tag...someone should go look at it...
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I have seen conflicting reports as to if warren has any records or knows about this car. And have seen that maybe 3 of these cars where built by yenko. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Come on you east coast members, take a look at this car for inquiring minds. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gifRoger

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
As of a couple days ago, Warren did NOT have anything on this car...
|
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Rob, I saw a post on another site that said you were sending someone look at the car. Any truth to that?
James Copy of the message: OK, I e-mailed the guy and this is what he had to say. Hi Dave, Actually AAEML is an advertising company that puts the ads together on our clients own ebay accounts. If our clients never sold anything in the past they will have a zero feedback. I do have concern with this car and that is why Rob from the Yenko club is sending somebody out to check out this car. He said that he is not sure even after I sent him all the numbers. I don’t know if my client is on the up and up or not but I will in a day or two. If this is a real L-88 it is worth every penny that my client is asking, I will forward the results of the Yenko’s club examination of the car to all who have left me feedback, both positive and negative. I hope you are wrong but I will accept the consequences either way. Thank You for your input, Tony |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
We spoke to Warren first, he said he didn't have anything, so now I'm tyring to contact a couple members about checking the car out. As of now, all I know about the car is what everyone knows, which is from the Ebay pictures... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I'm probably 10 minutes from this guy if he really has the car in Trenton, NJ. I just have no interest in the car even if it was priced at a sane price. If someone wants me to try to take a look at it, then give me some things to look for and I'll see if the guy will let me stop by.
