Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
http://www.duffys.com/results.asp?stocknum=4040331
Does anyone know anything about this dealer? I am interested in the 69 Nova. I was wondering if anyone lives close to the dealer and could take a look at the car. I have been told there there are no docs on the car. However, I know some of you are experts on BB Nova's and figured someone could help me out in determining if this car is actually a BB. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
I saw this car the other day while doing some surfing. I am just starting to learn about Novas as I would consider getting a BB 69 or 70 someday when I decide to sell the Velle. Here's a few observations from a "rookie", I'm sure others on here have better knowledge right now.
- The color appears to be closer to Lemans Blue than Dusk Blue. - The engine picture unfortunately does not give us a view of the heater box or the one side of the Master Cylinder. Both of these views would help. - Should it have 'painted' valve covers?????? - Tranny appears to be from 1971. Anyway, those are my initial comments which are from an uneducated person on Novas. Good luck. |
Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
Duffy is his own. He run them through like a used car lot, cleaned them up and dumps them. Makes them into drivers. I don't know about this one, but misreps the crap out of things. If you want a driver, ok, but otherwise, buyer beware.

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
Unfortunately I was just near this dealer recently but won't be back in area for awhile. I wouldn't be as harsh as the other poster on this dealer and couldn't speak to their reputation other than they have been in biz a long time and I've seen some very nice cars there at times but most of the time they're #3 drivers with an occasional #2. Don't believe Duffy himself owns it anymore but sold it to a group of his employees.
Don - here's the Nova you would have wanted in your garage. It had been listed for quite awhile and just recently sold. A bit steep on the price side but it did sell so who knows what's reasonable anymore? www.surfsideclassics.com |
Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
The vin and cowl tag info would help. It is a clever motor photo angle. You can not see the specific big block parts. It should have chrome valve covers. Air cleaner is wrong as well. The details like hood hinge color are wrong. They tend to resell cars that bring low auction prices. Mostly drivers they paint and tune up. Earl

Damn thats a really cool Demon they have !!

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
That one at Duffy's doesn't have a BB fan shroud, and Earl's right... the engine picture sucks.

Don - here's the Nova you would have wanted in your garage. [/ QUOTE ] Ya Dick, I noticed that one a few times actually. Seems to me it was discussed on one of the boards, maybe here even. Hopefully there will be one around when I'm ready, whenever that might be https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
Thanks guys....I already talked to someone there and they were unable to provide me with very basic information other than "It appears to be a Big Block". The VIN does not help since Nova's do notlist the engine size for this year. Also, the engine numbers come back from a 1968 chevy pickup. I also thought the engine pictures were done in a way to hide anything that would tell if the car was an original BB car or not. I don't think I will persue this one. Thanks again.

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
I can maybe go look at it for you and take pics if you'd like. Just let me know specific "money shots" you want. Don't know Novas.....so I would need a lot of direction.

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
Thanks for the offer but I think I am going to pass.

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
The vin number will tell you if it was a V-8 or 6 cyl car originally. The fan shroud looks like a 6 cyl. Earl

Re: Does Anyone Know Anything About This Dealer
The VIN indicates that the car was originally a V8. However, that could mean a 307. The VIN is 114279W479331.
