Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Anybody have experience with newer release from Coker?
Firestone Dragster Picture is of a whitewall but they make blackwall too. Thanks |
Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Radir Wheel makes a cool M/T vintage slick in smooth and grooved tread. I have a set on my "Galaxie"...BKH

Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Years ago, many local guys ran Coker recaps at the track just because they were very 'Sticky'. Soft tire compounds were all that mattered at the time.
Next step up was "real" drag slicks from Firestone or Goodyear. Is Coker trying to get into the vintage tire market? |

[ QUOTE ] Don't own the vintage tire market?quote] Correction........................................ ....... Was meaning to say is Coker getting into vintage drag tires, or simply repoping the same stuff they've been doing for a long time? A few Vette owners like they're Silvertown repops. Yet, I've never seen a faithful repop Camaro tire come from them. Correct me if I'am wrong plesae |
Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Try Kelsey Tire for Goodyears. You can get the Firestone 200's for a 69 Z/28 from Coker.

The Coker slicks look too much like snow tires in the way that the grooves are too close to the sidewall. There are other companies that sell them as re-caps but the casing sometimes reads BF Goodrich or whatever the original tire was. The best ones are the ones Radir Wheels sells directly through their web site. They are made by Mickey Thompson solely for Radir and they are entirely new tires and look fantastic. These are what I bought for my '55 after lots of shopping around. As far as hooking up, I don't know yet but I do plan on putting them through Hell very soon.

Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Thnks for the picture. They do look nice. What period of time wld these tires be reasonable for, or how long did folks put these on their cars i.e. mid 60's, late 60's, etc?
Here's the link to Radir Wheel Dragster Slicks |
Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
I would never put those slicks on anything past a 63/64 model. They look best on late 50's/early 60's style street rods. Rader wheels nothing past 65.

Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Whitetop is pretty accurate in his cutoff dates. I would never put "piecrust" slicks on any thing newer than 1965. Period wrong. The Radir wheels have always looked best on early sixities cars and anything after that, just looks wrong.

Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
I think 66 for the wheels...I remember 66 GTO , Chevelle with Raders...still looked good...especially on Pontiac

Re: Coker's Firestone Dragster Blackwall
Calling on SamLB...photoshop the different wheel tire combos for Mockingbird (Sam)...it's okay to throw in the present like you did for my birthday! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

This car was at a show this past weekend in NJ. It is very high. As it was driving up the row....I thought it was a 4X4!!!!
