Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
I have just recieved the first Danbury Mint 1/24th scale Yenko Camaros. The Danbury mint was at Super Car Workshop last year taking pictures and taking notes for their new deicast Yenko. A few months ago I recieved the first prototypes on a Yenko and a COPO Camaro we worked with them on. We recomended a number of changes and the finished car is simply amazing. If you are a diecst fan, this is the best I have seen. The first issue is a Hugger Orange/Black stripe X66. I will post pictures soon. The detail is fantastic, from the Yenko plate frame,to the antenna that goes up and down. It should be a big seller. Future plans call for other Yenko colors and a new COPO release...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
Great news! Danbury does a very good job as well as having some of the best detail. Glad to hear you were associated with the project and I look forward to getting some of these.

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camar
I have one of these on order. As soon as I seen it come in the mail I new that I had to have one of these. I have several Danbury Mint cars and they look great I can only wait to get this one in my hands. What even makes it better is that they went to the guys at SCW to get it perfect. I'm looking forward to seeing the up coming Yenko colors that they are going to offer along with the COPO's. This is indeed great news. Hopefully they will try and do a few of the other Supercars in the near future (Motion, DANA, Nickey, Dick Harrell etc). https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Jesse

Oh Very cool!
Why is there a chin spoiler but no rear spoiler on that COPO? Am I seeing things? Are those BPT codes on the firewall? |

That is pretty cool. They did a nice job on the '69 tooling.
Wanna see something really scary? Does anyone here have one of the Revell 'Creative Masters' yellow Z-28 prototypes from '89? I saw one of these go for over $2K on ebay in 1999. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif https://www.yenko.net/attachments/161795-z28right1.jpg |

Nobody did die-cast like those guys. Sadly, that company went out of business. I believe Revell bought the rights to the tooling, but I may be wrong on that. I was in one of those bidding wars on a 69 CM Z/28 die-cast on eBay in the past. Wish I had stayed in it ! They are like hens teeth now. Wonder if someone would trade me my 69 CX coded THM400 for a Creative Masters '69 Z/28. What am I saying? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif Steve |

Hey Brian,
Glad to hear you were in the creative process on this DM die-cast car. Nice bullet for the resume. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Bragging rights - eeeh! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif BTW, I'm getting that A-R wing. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif I'll post pictures when it gets here. The detail on these is awesome, especially with the real metal emblems. For all you 2nd. Gen fans,Franklin Mint is coming out with a '70 1/2 Z/28 in various colors ($69) and it is due to ship in December.I have pre-ordered mine in Hugger Orange of course from Supercar Collectables. God rest his soul...I wish Ron Voorhees could have seen that HO Y-Camaro commemorative diecast of his car. Our hobby was honored by his participation and passion https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Those look great. Sent copy of this thread to Diecast Pub site. COPO looks really neat. I wish they'd do my car...Garnet Red, double copo, no spoilers...hint, hint. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
I have 2 Creative Masters Z/28's, Hugger Orange and Lemans Blue and both of my grills are black! I must have purchased diecast clones!

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
These look great. I have 2 Franklin Mint 69 Z's and 2 Danbury Mint 69's One Z and One SS. The Yenko is way more detailed!

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
I sent Rob the final version of the X66 Yenko. It had many changes from the prototype. Some subtle changes like the dome lamp was 180 degrees out, some trim needed removed, black rocker panel treatment, spare tire placment etc. Small detail like the Yenko mag decal, Canonsburg plate frame and many others were done, and yes PTB marks on the firewall. Danbury really did a great job with the car considering the 1/24th scale. The first car was selected as Orange and the car is based on Ron Voorhees and Don Stowers car. Future releases will be I believe another X66 maybe two, an X11 and 2 X44 versions. The silver COPO was a mule for the others to come. There is talk about other dealer built models later. I will update as I get updated. Frank Arones COPO was used for the models as well as Barry Coughlins OG Yenko Camaro. Thanks for all the help with this project guys. I think Danbury did a great job and if these are a big hit, I am sure many others will follow..BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
Steve,
Is that your Hugger Orange Yenko? If so, what was the approximate build date? I noticed that your car has the rear panel blacked-out. Wasn't that an early Yenko phenomenon? BTW, I like the 24/24 scale too. Can you get one for the price of a Danbury Mint die-cast? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Steve |
Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
The first 50 cars were X66 cars and had the rear panel blackout just like the 396 SS cars. All were O1B cars...BKH

I originally posted from work based on what I thought must be correct-a silver grille on a '69 Z/28. Now I apoligize for that mistake.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |

Wow, they really nailed it, especially with those "Atlas" wheels and tall 70s. I'm putting one of these on my Christmas list.

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camar
The detail and proportions look really good. Makes Ertl's 69 Camaro look like it was whittled out of a bar of soap. Just one question...where are the Wide Tread GTs?
|
Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camar
Not sure why no WTGT's. Perhaps a naming rights thing on Goodyears part. I just recieved a flyer for the new Yenko release. The flyer itself is a neat piece...BKH

Nice work Brian. Why not convince them to do a ZL-1 while they are at it? I know where there is a Le Mans blue one they could have access to...

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camar
If you e-mail the Dabury Mint they will send you an order form. I saw one listed on E-Bay, that is how I first found out about them. I e-mailed Dabury and they sent me an order form.

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
bkh @ SCW sent the Danbury guys up to me earlier this year to shoot my BY sYc Chevelle for an upcoming release also, probably still a year away...........can't wait. My 10 year old son has only asked me if it's out yet about 99 times.

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
what was the significance of the assembly line crayon marks "crafted in China" on the floor pans.?

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camaro
I believe there is some law governing this. From my understandings, sellers must disclose the origin of manufacturing. All retail items must have it displayed somewhere on the article. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

And I see a silver grille in every pic of the car thats been posted. Aside from the lack of white lettered tires, as was already noted, the car looks pretty accurate to me... Why not Atlas wheels on an X66 car? The two are not exclusive https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Danbury Mint to release new 1/24th Yenko Camar
I just received mine the other day. That car is awesome https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif. I'm looking forward to seeing the Nova's when they come out along with any others they decided to produce. Hopefully a 69 SYC Chevelle will also be in the line up not to mention a 67 and 68 Camaro. It would be nice to complete the collection. Jesse
