Hmm, me thinks you must be getting closer to having something newly restored to haul around. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Enclosed Trailer
Hey Sam!
Getting closer. I promise I'm going to post some pics from "find" to "show" when we're done. Figured I'd start looking for that trailer now vice the 11th hour run around. Plus, I may be able to get some practice backing up with it BEFORE the car is in it.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif |

I only have 5 thousand reasons why I can't buy Kenny's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif So, the search is on!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: Enclosed Trailer
Lee, 24-26 ft trailer is a lot of trailer for a Camaro/Chevelle I bought this new Pace 22 footer this past summer and it is plenty long enough for my Chevelle. I have a foot and a half in the back and 5 feet in front with the Chevelle loaded. If your limited to $5,000.00 you may want to think about a shorter trailer. I find that the 22' is perfect for my needs. Remember it has to get into gas stations, restaurants, hotel lots, etc. Just a thought.

Re: Enclosed Trailer
I have a 20' Featherlight with a V nose that stops at about 22' and it is fine for hauling a show car and some junk in front of it. If you are going racing you will want bigger just like I do to haul tires, tools etc.

Re: Enclosed Trailer
Lee: have you priced new trailers? Granted it was 2 years ago, but we bought a brand new 24' Haulmark with some extras (interior kit, extra lights) for right at $5k from a dealer outside of Springfield, MO. Granted, it isn't full of chrome diamond plate & Pit Pal goodies, but it's been a great trailer...and when you buy used you never know how many curbs those axles have hit...just a thought!

Re: Enclosed Trailer
I just bought a new 20 foot pace enclosed trailer over the summer. I walked out the door tax, title, registration, and I think it was just over 6300.00 I have had ny 68 nova in it with plenty of room and I have also had a 67 chevelle in it, again fit great. It all depends on what you need!

Re: Enclosed Trailer
A 24' trailer is nice and lets you haul more than you need, but my 20' has plenty of room for my Chevelle, plus the associated garbage we all 'think' we have to have at hand.
There's one member here who hauls a '67 Camaro in a 16' enclosed trailer. A little tight, but it works. Like Charley said, just for shows, etc., the 20'ers are fine, but the racers like 26' + for all their extras. What you may find though is, USED 20' trailers are nowhere near as plentiful as the 24' & up units. With a 7K budget, you shouldn't have any problem getting exactly what you're looking for.......... at least in our part of the country. |
Re: Enclosed Trailer
I'm interested in reading/hearing about a 20' or 22' PACE Shadow, Haulmark or other quality 10,000 GVW trailer.
If you know of a speciifc dealer or seller, please advise at this Email [email protected] Also seek 2WD older Cummins or possibly Duramax.....any opinions on the many trucks available in TX or ???? Thanks, |
Re: Enclosed Trailer
Looking for advice on contacting misc dealers, private party contacts.
Searched back 5 years and couldnt find old threads with trailer advice Why do I need 10,000 GVW axles with 22' or 20' for non race car. Is it just better for resale. Do I definitely want torsion sprung axles vesus leaf springs. I'm trying to buy previosuly owned, because I'm cheap and frugal. Your advice and remarks are welcome Also, I've been telling myself that a 98 1/2+ 24 Valve CUMMINS Dodge extended cab 2500 is best bang for the buck towing. What about the 3500 versus 2500???? Need education on misc Dodge year, eng ,trans pros and cons Thanks to all, |

Re: Enclosed Trailer
Still interested in hearing about a 22' or 20' Trailer...preferably out west........
Should I hold out for 10K torsion axles.......which I'm thinking will be next to impossible to find on short trailer?????? Thanks, |
Re: Enclosed Trailer
As for the axles, go bigger!! If you consider that your trailer is going to be between 3500 and 4000# and your car is 3500 to 4000#-- 7000# axles will not cut the mustard. I have my H&H 24' v-nose and I have a lot of room (Some of you will even get a chuckle out of what I have in the nose of mine). It is a heavy built trailer, but I have a heavy car and the mileage difference vs. wind drag will be miniscule. When I was researching mine, I found that H&H had the most standard equipment and extras built in and I found mine on dealer inventory for the price range that you are looking for. I have been very happy with it, the only thing I wish for is a more stylish tow rig, but I guess the ol' tow beast is a good fit for me!!! http://usera.imagecave.com/smallhurst/FordDually14.jpg
