Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
I saw this magazine article years ago and figured it was a phony made-up car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
What's your guys take on this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-CHEV...1QQcmdZViewItem |
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
------Rick,,,That car of Billy Clements showed up at B/J a couple of years ago. Cant remember what it went for. Original engine was supposedly in the trunk and car desperatly needed resto. Dont know where it went. As far as real or not,,, Billy is the guy with all the fake and blank color tags on E-bay all the time. He also used to do ID tags but I believe the Feds shut down or severly slowed down that part of his business. I believe there might be a bit of doubt on peoples minds in regard to this one.........Bill S

Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
Thanks Bill, that's what I thought too.
Has there ever been any other rumored aluminum headed LS6's? It seems I had heard of a Cranberry Red one in North Carolina that went to Florida, then disappeared. I'm pretty sure there were no Tonowanda records showing the engine being built, but weird things do happen. |
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
Didn't Mark Meekins feature one in his 'Chevelle Report' a few years ago? (I probably still have the issue somewhere.)
|
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
I have some of those old Chevelle Reports also. Do you remember an approximate year?
|
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
Not really. I honestly don't recall when the 'Report' ceased production. I'll try to look up my copies over the weekend.
One of the other 'Ricks' might remember the article. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
The only article I recall was Bill Clements, Black, Red Stripe, Red interior LS-6 convert with Aluminum heads. The article was run in the mid 80's in Musclecar Review or one of the other "Muscle" magazines of that time.

Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
At the least it's a Wickstrom. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
------Rick,,, I also have vivid memory of Billy telling me that either the car had a fiberglass cowl-induction hood or he had one for it that was a factory piece.......Bill S

Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
Bill; Yes it had a one off Fiberglass hood supposedly a GM prototype . The build sheet showed some real strange things like F-70-15 wheel tire combo as well, Very Questionable as to the originality of the doc's and car !!!

[/ QUOTE ] Same outfit that used to advertise in Hemmings for fake tags and buildsheets, and is now selling fake tags on ebay. The listings are by Bill and Howie in Lubbock, TX, which is none other than Mr. Clements. Here's a link to a recent tag auction of his: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250089154466 |
Re: Factory Aluminum head LS6 ???
Yeah, Mr. Clements sure can spin a tall tale. He sure goes to a lot of effort to fool people. Too bad he doesn't use his energy toward something more worthwhile.
