Look at the links on the bottom. These clowns in congress cant seem to get their heads out of their *sses and figure it out.
The domestic in ground reserves of oil are enormous. If those idiots kill the oil industry how will that effect our reliance on foreign oil . The fact of the matter is the US oil industry has underperformed the US market on ROI consistently. I think its about 8.2% and these clowns keep regulating and taxing them figuring this is going to somehow increase production or reduce price. If we took the reigns off and let the world know we were going to aggressively get back into the domestic production business you would see the bottom drop. What makes the greeners think any other county can drill in a more environmentally friendly way than us. The fact of the matter is they cant. So let me get this straight, kill US oil companies and production, then rely on others who really don't care about the environment to drill for us and hold us hostage to energy, come on! I think we are all clear that alternative energy sources are needed but lets stop with the knee jerk (ethanol was a great idea till the facade was blown off that one). Why does France seem (yes France) to be able to generate +/- 80 % of their electricity from nukes and we can't??????? SORRY FOR THE RANT BUT I wish people would take as much time to understand the real issues as they did worrying about who was going to win American Idol or what Brittney did last week. Again sorry for the rant this stuff drives me crazy!!!!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |

Re: 427
It has everything to do with OPEC flooding the world with cheap oil in the 90's... so they could slow the investment in alternative energy that began when they pulled their BS in the 70's.
Addiction to cheap energy has caused world oil consumption to rise to stratospheric levels. Then we have the China play... they are consuming oil at unprecedented rates and their consumption will only increase in the future... what is going to happen? The US is going to have to get to work on some Nuke plants... What about Gasification of Coal? Nothing would be better than telling those damn OPEC extorsionists to flood their countries with all that oil. |

Because they can?!? Makes a lot of sense, huh?
Then they can sell it to us and make a tidy profit https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

Re: 427
I wonder what everyone thinks about the recent slip of the tongue by a congressional panel member about "Socializing the oil industry......It's about government taking over all of you businesses"
Personally this scares the crap out of me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif |
Re: 427
Nobody's going to socialize anything. This is America and you pay the going rate or you go packing. Nobody's going to socialize medicine either no matter what they say on the campaign trail. Rest easy, the current status quo will still be in place 50, 100, 200 years from now. Politicos love to say stupid s*it to get the opposition's dander up and that's probably what you heard--a politically planned "trial balloon" aimed at shaking people up. When gas is $10 a gallon we'll be paying for it just as we are paying $4-plus today. (If we're really lucky the salaried employees among us will get pay raises to help offset the skyrocketing price of gas and food! Ya'think?)

Re: 427
I am concerned about the "growing something for nothing" group that doesn't seem to understand that for every freebie they get from the government they surrender some of their own personal freedom. The politico's have been very successful tainting the opinion of the something for nothing crowd by vilifying big business. The American Idol Brittney crowd is made to believe that all business is crooked and their savior to make everything FAIR is the government.
Im sure things like this don't happen overnight (i wish they would for obvious reasons) and I will have assumed room temperature for long time when it does, but it will if we continue down the path we are on. Maybe not now, what about our kids and grandkids. Below is a quote from A Scottish historian who lived in the late 1700's It is interesting to me because I think it reflects the direction of our country A warning from Scots Historian Professor Alexander Tyler, circa 1787: The Fall of the Athenian Republic. "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship. "The average age of the world's greatest civilization has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence. From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back into bondage. Hopefully I'm wrong Sorry about the rant but like I said before this stuff drives me nuts!!!!!!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif |
