Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
It looks similar to one I found once under the carpet where the passengers feet would go.. Mine was really beat up from the sticky sound deadner.. I cant see how that was found in a back seat! And whats with he LS5 engine code on there twice?

For comparisons here is a real buildsheet from an old Ls5 of mine, notice how smilar the top right is to the buildsheet in question
|
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Is the VIN readable in the upper right? If not, I'm not sure the rest is all that important.

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
That Arlington Buildsheet looks authentic to me.
Does it belong to the same vehicle your looking at,is another issue. |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Hey Rick ,
thanks for your input , yes i'm looking to buy this car . It's in my price range . |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Joe, I think what Rick is trying to get across is the same thing that Dick said earlier....unless you can read the VIN in the upper right corner of the sheet, there's no way to prove that the sheet pictured belongs to the car you're interested in buying, making it essentially of no value.

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
If you look at the engine code it says 454 4 BL HC ENG on one line and the line immediately following it says 454 5 BL HC ENG. It is like someone copied a cell in Excell and when it dragged it the number rolled up one - Very suspicious.
I have a LS5 from Arlington with a Build Sheet and they did spell 331 RATIO ALLE - just like this one. Never noticed that before. |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
This sheet looks rather typical for the Arlington Plant to me as well. Not uncommon for Arlington sheets to show up between the floor board and tar paper underlayment. That's what I believe gave this one it's brick oven pizza look. It wouldn't look like that if it came out of the rear seat.

And double entries is not at all uncommon for Arlington docs. You have to remember, this info was manually entered by humans! Mustang sold a '70 HO orange Nova too, I hear it's got low miles https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Joe, I had an Arlington LS5 with a build sheet and mine looked similar, with exception of the burnt corners, as the one you show here.
|
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
If it is tar from underlayment it will come out with-out harming the build sheet using laquer thinner, I have done this as have many guys on the Performance Years Forums, it works great.

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
I'd still want to know how and why the build sheet caught on fire?
|
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Stefano,
I don't think the buildsheet was ever on fire. A lot of Arlington sheets look like this because of where they turn up. Most likely it's from a reaction between the buildsheet paper and the tar paper underlayment where a lot of this plant's buildsheets are found. They are usually between the floorboard and underlayment. I'd guess the floorboard where this sheet was most likely found was pretty surface rusty from the look of this sheet. Chris |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
I've seen worse from Arlington. I pulled a sheet from the floor board and the tar barrier under the passenger foot area and it was pretty burnt. I believe the heat burns them. This sheet actually had the red oxide primer burnt right into it. The sheet in question looks real to me. Tried to post a picture but the file was too big

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Here's another Arlington sheet for a Chevelle.

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
That Mustang emblem is on the trunk lid , are there more then one build sheets in Arlington cars?
|
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Here's a build sheet I found under the carpet of a 1970 LA built Camaro. It was on the tranny tunnel and a seat belt had been bolted through it. Up close it looks almost burned around the hole. I believe the burn look was caused by the tar like sound proofing.

I wish I still had the car. It was as plain as they came.
As for the Camaro Driveaway. I am still researching it. Rick H. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think John Z was explaining that in another thread but I can't remember which site. I don't want to post the wrong information so I'll see if I can find it. Found the thread on Nastyz28.com regarding the driveaway. This is quoted from Kurt S. [ QUOTE ] From JohnZ: "Driveaways" were fairly common in those days - usually organized by the Zone Sales guys; groups of dealers (10, 20 or more) would order cars, and the Zone would make an event out of it, with the dealers picking up the cars all at once at the plant and driving them home. We had a "driveaway" row in the yard where the cars would be accumulated, and each car would get dealer-prepped and filled with gas before the event, which usually included a plant tour and sometimes a catered meal, tents, etc. [/ QUOTE ] |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
It was my understanding the Arlington Texas plant did not start building Chevelles of any year until December of 1969. This was one of the reasons it was very unusual to find a build sheet at all in an Arlington car, and if you did, it was located under the passengers floor board under the underlayment. The other plants that had started bulding Chevelles since 1964 has numerous build sheets, and could be found under the back seat, behind door panels, stuffed under the dash, by the pedals ect.
The original Window Sticker from my Arlington Texas and every other real LS6 I have ever seen from this plant, has always Stated: "...Dual Dual exhaust..." on it. This is the only plant that I have ever seen this commonly typed like that.. Rick Nelson, can you comment on this? Bill 1970 LS6 / M-22 2008 Victory Red ZO-6 (What a NEAT car!) |
Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
Anyone have a comment on my previous post? I'm just trying to learn what I can about the Arlington Texas built cars.

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
I'll let you know if i find anything Bill , i only have the one it was under the rear seat under the underlayment you mentioned .

Re: Hey Guys check out this Build sheet real or fake
No Arlington production reported earlier than December would be supported by the following.....
