loooking for a pair of 71 4 speed carbs. Must be 100% original also need NOS front left fender

I dont have them but do have a Holley Hemi 4bbl NASCAR carb with lemans bowls if you know of a buyer.Tom

You may already know this, but just in case here’s some info about ‘71 Hemi Carbs. For 4-speeds the parts books specify PNs 4969 and 4971 (or 4970/4971 for autos). However, to my knowledge not one original 1971 car was ever built with these particular carbs. These carbs do exist, and are somewhat readily available, but they are believed to have only been supplied as over-the-counter replacements. All original 1971 Hemi cars I’ve seen or heard about were actually equipped with “modified” 1970 carbs. This is commonly believed to be because the factory had a surplus of leftover 1970 Hemi carbs, and since the most noticeable external difference for ‘71 was the change to manual (pull cable) choke it made sense to just modify some for 1971 usage. To denote the 1971 modifications a large batch of “L9” date coded 1970 carbs were then modified to 1971 specs, and they stamped an “M” (for Modified) over the original L9 stamping date. In other words, the actual production-line carbs mounted on 1971 Hemi cars were 1970 carbs with PNs 4742/4745 (manual) or 4742/4746 (auto), dated L9, and with an over-stamped “M”. Today these are simply referred to as “ML9” carbs. Since these were only used on the production line cars, today these carbs are very rare and very hard to come by, and I’m sorry to say that all mine are spoken for. Here’s a picture of the “ML9” stamping on an original 1971 4742 Hemi carb.

Perfect! Your rear 4746 (auto) carb should have a similar ML9 stamping. In case you don’t have it here’s an example of what the carb tag on your 4742 ML9 would look like.

Correct. And the “3469” on your carb tag also means it was assembled on the 346th day of 1969, matching its L9 stamping date. I’ve only ever seen these L9 carbs modified and restamped as ML9s for ‘71 usage, meaning I’ve never seen an L9 without an M, but it’s certainly possible there were some L9s that were never modified/restamped and installed on 1970 cars.
