1979 Z/28 help needed ...
Looking at a 1979 Z/28 to purchase.
Anyone know these cars well? Please PM me TIA |
A record 84,877 Z28's for 1979.
|
That seems high …. You sure that many Z/28's ?

|
79 was a record production year for Camaro

Great looking and driving cars despite no HP. Interior quality and overall fit and fininish are a little lackluster, IMO.
|
1979 was a record year for both the Z/28 and Trans Am. The Z/28 was only 175 hp, but not TOO bad at the time (the dark days of performance) when coupled to a 4-speed. I do believe the 4-speeds received a 3.73 rear end though.
|
Automatics had 3.42 rear. I have a low mileage one. Its basically a cruiser.
4 speeds are more desirable IMO |
Automatics had 3.42 gears 4 speed had 3.73 gears. The norwood cars I've seen has z28 on the cowl tag never seen a van nuys car with z28 on the cowl tag in 79

These cars are easy to document by getting a dealer invoice through the GM Media Archive for $50.00. This is available for any 1977 and newer Chevrolet at www.gmmediaarchive.com
