Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Had a guy call last night lives close to me and has "some" W-Machines!!!
It is so nice to meet guys and share info. Ryan PS I think I am missing some battery box and or hold down items.....anybody have pictures of how it should look? |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

It's a typical battery tray and clamp (but Olds specific in looks)....covers multiple years (68-72) and uses the typical GM battery tray clamp. Nice ones available from repro vendors.
Pic of good original tray and GM clamp for the 68-72 350 cars: |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Thanks, I will sift through my stuff again and post a picture of that area specifically but I think this is missing.
What repop companies sell this piece? Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Just my two cents RYAN if you put a repop on that car I'm gonna be sick. Lol It should be only till an original is found. Put it in your wish list for another piece to hunt down!

So far the exhaust is about all I can find not original............I think the battery and battery tray won't ruin the whole car:-) It is on the repop and NOS list. A local Oldsmobile collector sent me an assembly manual, (in the mail, how nice is that?) and I have received E-versions of various chapters of the assembly manual. I have also purchased a copy of the entire binder but I won't be able to pick it up for a few months, shipping it would cost more than the book:-( Part numbers............do I need to buy the Parts binder as well? This tray for example...........if I bought the parts list I could look it up and away we go........I welcome your thoughts! Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan there's a local guy here that deals with nothing but Oldsmobile parts I'll try and locate his number to see if he's hot a tray!

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

I need to start an Oldsmobile parts supplier list.... Ryan |

I need to start an Oldsmobile parts supplier list.... Ryan </div></div> There's guy (Bob Cline)in my area (Woodstock, IL) that knows Oldsmobiles, especially W Machines, that goes by Desert Dog Auto Parts. I haven't talked to him in a while, but he used to have a pair of W-30 cars that he called the boys. |

Dan, here is a quick picture of the F85 W31. It's Canadian documented and numbers matching. I'll start another thread as I don't want to interfere with Ryan's thread.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan,
You welcome, come by anytime! Did you find the location or any more information on the dealer in Ayr on the way home? Cheers, Sam |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I stopped and took some pictures around where I think the Ayr Count Garage was back in the day. I sent a few pictures to Al so he can tell me which building was the GM Dealer/appliance/TV store:-)
Nice town:-) By the write up I posted earlier the dealer was right up the street from the water so my guess it the Ayr Country Garden Store is the old County Garage, but TBD. Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I got word the place I assumed used th be the County Garage in Ayr, was not. They said the CG was on the other side of the street further away from the pond. They also mentioned the building is gone:-(
I got contact info for the historical society and the local paper who are said to have historical pictures from years past. They also said the library has many pictures of the town. Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Reorganized my binder of documentation and started a binder with an Assembly Manual I started to figure out the sections and what is in each section. Boy is that book ever full of information!!!
The battery tray page is a little faded, need to figure out the part number and bolts etc Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3142-image.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
That is a reproduction assembly manual.....or in other words.....a copy. You'r going to go blind reading it. Go buy yourself a real Assembly Manual.....you will love how clear and visible they are

Now....here is a REAL CAR GUY...love the bolt through binder
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
If I had a good binder that big it would be in there. I have several parts books from 66 thru 69 and a newer one that covers 70 on up to 76.
This would cover the early part of the year and has illustrations also (bonus). |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Amazing find Ryan. Not quite the 69' Chevelle you were after, but equally as cool IMO.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I wanted to share my POP Warranty Protect-O-Plate dealer information in case anyone is researching a car sold at the same dealer.
85620 County Garage (AYR) LTD. Northumberland Street Ayr, Ontario |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I assume this breaks out as:
Zone #85 Dealer #620 Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Sent a note to the Ayr paper to try to get some pictures of the dealer back in the day:-)

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I was able to get into the glove box finally. Struck out, no jackpot in there:-)
I will fix the lock and put it back together. My GM of Canada docs say I can call any GM dealer to get a new set of keys from the original key codes. I will do that mostly to get the recipt and see if the codes are on it.... I read the BOS a little more careful last night and the key codes are written on it:-) There is also and engine number...need to see if that number is the same as the oil fill tube number? Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170522.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170514.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170505.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170456.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170428.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...323_170420.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Silly question does the glove box button/lock turn to lock or unlock and the depress to open?
I got it open by reaching in and unscrewing the latch bolts:-) I have cleaned the lock but it is very seized up, I have it soaking in JB 80 ( none on the plastic as I don't think that would be a good idea) Also how does one remove the lock cylinder from the glove box door? Ryan |
