Dave Molnar, you have outdone yourself!!!
This 2021 SYC Calendar is over the top. Ryan W31 |
Thanks, Ryan!!! For those that don’t know why Ryan’s car is displayed like it is, my idea was that it would be the car in the vintage ad campaign for Dr. Oldsmobile. His car is in the lab being transformed into the W31 machine!
I had to search to find some higher quality copies of the original ads, then Mike cut and spliced the characters around the car coupling that with a Spooky laboratory background. Glad you like it, Ryan!!!!! How’d the Stagers like it??? See you in a few months! Cheers:beers: Dave |
So well done Dave :)

Amy and I took a cruise yesterday in the Cutlass, nice weather and a full tank of premium!
We zipped over to the Stagers to deliver the calendar. Lynn had us in for coffee and treats and as Al's health is deteriorating Lynn will share the calendar with him. Something to occupy his mind with thoughts of the Cutlass back in the day rumpety rumping around Ayr. Ryan W. |
Very nice Ryan.....I am sure you made Al’s day :)
Dan |
How does one score that calendar , that is very nice!!

My Canadian car buddy Cliff Guinand has made some kick ass art!!!
These T shirts will be available on his website www.burnouts.net I love the detail!! You can see the vent window, and more importantly the B90 is gleaming :-) Ryan W31 |
Nice, now we will need to see a video of you doing a Burnout?
Can you back it up? Dan |

Summer 2021 will bring smokie burnouts. (I’ll put my (1969 only) SS11’s and white wall radials on and roast them. The bias plys are too freakin expensive to melt. Ryan W31 |
You need to do some dry wall and ceiling repairs :)
Looking forward to your 2021 pics and burnout video`s :) Dan |

Line lock or just the ole 2 step? Not sure I mentioned it before now but it was good meeting you at 2019 MCACN. Have enjoyed your build thread and wishing you success with the burnouts and pure stock drags for 2021.

All the PSMCDR guys would love it if line lock was allowed, but no. After Christmas I have a few items to get going, so I’m ready for some local tracks :-) Ryan W31 PS: Cliff made a poster as well so I have some of them on order too!! Plus he can make the T shirts have any colour W31 people want :-) |

This poster makes me happy, especially the fact that I went faster than both magazine drag tests from back in the day, even before I change rear gears :-)
Ryan W31 |
So I did a Poscast with JP Emerson, it was very fun and something I would like to do more of in the future.
Yenko.net has sure given me a bunch of joy over the years and this is just one more example. Ryan W31 https://the-jp-emerson-show.simpleca...rview-xPv6bFN3 |
----You done good, Ryan!!! When we 1st heard about this podcast stuff I didn't know what to think, but you've made me a believer!......Bill S

So I got another part that will help me in my 2021 goal of reducing my ET to 13.999.
Marty Hodgson (local Olds guy) gave me an Olds O type housing so I can use the perches for my rare 1968 31 spline rear. Marty is wrapping up a body off resto on a 1969 F85 W31, M21, 433 Sable, gold interior, gold stripes sold new at Belmont!!! Ryan W31 |
Nice :)
Dan |
See? Now get in that shop and get it done. :burnout:

Started cutting the perches off today.
The welds are tough to get to, but free is worth a lot of tough!!! Ryan W31 PS: Albert G put a clutch in the mail.... I can’t wait!!! |

These perches are difficult to cut off without damaging them, but I did it.
Now I need to dress them up, sandblast, and primer. Now I know why I never hear about GM A-Body rear end perches getting ripped off at the drag strip. (Solid!!!) One step closer to 13.999 Ryan W31 |

Thanks to Albert Galdi I have a new clutch to abuse.
11” 10 spline GM replacement Now if it will warm up, I’ll get at it!! Ryan W31 |
Albert - Gets It! :)

Weather has finally warmed up enough to work in the garage!!!
I pulled the driveshaft and transmission. (Heavy F@&$er!!) I took the pad off my floor jack so I can make a trans jack adapter. (The trans looks so light as the case is aluminum.... but there are a lot of heavy guts in there) I am committed now :-) Ryan W31 |
To celebrate my car selling March 27 “327” 1969 I zipped to Ayr and dropped off my driveshaft for a check at the shop that built it.
I should have gone with a 3” instead of the monster 3.5” when the car bottoms out it touches the tunnel in several places. They will check for straightness and balance. (I swear a vibration started after I had 5 people in the car and hit a few woopdiedoo (bumps) and it bottomed out. (At the time I assumed only on the rubber bumpers of the rear end....) Still learning all the time!! Ryan W31 |
And where you going the speed limit?

Which is 88.5 KPH :-) Ryan W31 |

I picked up my driveshaft. It was bent 0.009” so they straightened it, now it’s 0.001” to 0.002” and balance is good. He greased the u joints and painted it.
All for free. They called it cosmetics. (They work on a lot of heavy equipment so this was fun, clean, fussy work. Ryan W31 |
I dropped off my original and SFI flywheel to the engine machine shop.
They will surface the new FW and check balance vs the OG. I left the new pressure plate so they can bolt it to the FW after its balanced to make sure it isn’t out of balance. (If so they will balance the pressure plate as well) I have to call to make sure I was clear that I want them balanced separately so I can replace parts as I wish without needed if to rebalance. Ryan W31 PS: I need to whip up a trans jack plate for my floor jack..... that Muncie is heavy. |
FW is ready to pick up.
Perches are boxed up ready to ship to DTS Ionia MI. TO Housing shipping being arranged from Minnesota to DTS. Micro progress. Ryan W31. |

Big news!!!
Bob Ashton let me know a little while ago they decided to offer to make a die cast replica of my Cutlass in the MCACN collection. Yesterday they let the cat out of the bag. Ryan W31 PS: it says my car is a “Ford Oldsmoblie” oh boy!!! Maybe it’s a SCJ-W31?? |
Very cool.....Congrats!
I assume you will have one for me for 2021 Christmas :) Dan |
