1966 283 engine code GL

Can't imagine anyone on here would want this. But, figured I would post it here before going to CL.

Complete very well running 283 coded GL. It always started right up, even though the choke was wired open. Didn't smoke and ran way stronger than I would expect a 283 to run. I just drove the car three weeks ago. Not a hiccup.

Pad stamp is TO523GL, which decodes as a 220 HP 283 with PG trans in Chevy "Passenger Car". which means full size Chevy. Block is dated May 18, 1966. Happens to be my Mom's birthday. Good candidate for 4 inch bore to make a 301/302. I have a small journal 302 forged small journal crank (at extra cost) if someone wants a bullet proof engine. Tony has some stock bore 4" pistons.

3834810 block, which is well known, but for some reason, is not listed in Chevrolet by The NUmbers.

Listing the WP separately, as it was used extensively, even in high HP applications.

NOT included is the Holley carb. Also, NOT included is the 480 distributor (how is that for luck?). BUT, included is the Holley Street Dominator intake. This engine ran very well. It was in my 70 LT-1 when I bought it.

Price is free. It is grimy. I prefer not to ship. Would put it on a pallet and ship at your expense as long as you tell me it isn't for resale.

No longer available. I sold this locally, along with the water pump.

Guy is putting it in an S10.
