Lemans vs GTO window sticker

1 Attachment(s)
I have this Lemans in my garage dressed up like a GTO. My question is according to the original window sticker it has everything a GTO has, so what makes a GTO different other than decals and exhaust turn out.

1971? Edit: 1972 due to the Sport option.

Mike Noun would be a good person to ask. I bet I could find out the answer but it would take me an hour. I bet you're right.

You could order specific options on a 1971-1972 LeMans to make it nearly identical to a GTO. In fact, in 1972, the GTO itself became an option on the LeMans.

It looks like whoever ordered your LeMans wanted a GTO, but without the GTO nameplate that would have kicked up their insurance rates. They ordered the Endura Styling Option, 400 4-bbl, G70x14 tires, Springs & Shocks, all part of the GTO package.

The T41 nose, called the Endura Styling Option, was available on any 1971 LeMans Sport or V8 LeMans wagon. The availability of the Endura nose, which included the GTO hood, really diminished the exclusivity of owning a GTO, but GTO sales were declining.

There were many copycat cars that used body-colored bumpers by 1970, some were urethane coated steel bumpers, some were just painted steel. Pontiac felt that the general public was not aware how different Endura was, so they allowed the GTO nose to be ordered on a LeMans. It was only a $73.72 option in 1971, well worth it in my opinion. In 1972, the Endura Styling Option was further reduced to just a $42.13 option on the LeMans. Later in the year they made it a $41.00 option to coincide with the name T41.
