The Blue Mule - Day 2 Copo

I was noodling around the net tonight and found some old Mecum info on this former race car and Day 2 Copo. Not knowing anything about this car I was immediately intrigued by it being a deluxe interior car with a host of options.

Obviously restored in Day 2 trim with Cragars, header mufflers, and Mickey Thompson rubber, I immediately wondered if anyone knew more about the car, it's history or of its current ownership? Anyone?

MECUM Description 2013
It is one of the most highly optioned Malcolm Konner Chevrolet COPOs known to exist, featuring power steering and J52 power brakes, Z87 Custom interior, console, special instrumentation, tinted glass, AM/FM radio and Z21 Style Trim group. Correctly finished in LeMans Blue with a Black vinyl top and sporting Cragar SS wheels, the car has been meticulously restored to “Day Two” configuration, including the correct L72 427/425 HP engine, M22 "Rock Crusher" 4-speed transmission, complete BE-code rear axle

I remember when this car was located. You might want to read this thread which was started back in 2006. Most pictures in the thread aren't showing up though, but a fascinating read.

Lot’s to like about that car, but what’s with the strange vinyl top? Not the shape of a typical ‘69 Camaro vinyl top in either photo.

Car was not factory equipped with vinyl roof per the TT info posted in the earlier thread. Not sure of history, but probably a dealer add on perhaps.

Another member on this site has a low mileage COPO with the '68 style VT. He has original doc.s from the dealer showing the cost of install.
