Hank took a lot of abuse from people at the ballparks when he was chasing the record. But he perservered, rose above it all and broke the record with class and dignity.RIP sir.

Rest in peace Hank. A truly great player with plenty of class too. He along with Eddie Matthews were two of my dad's favorite players as he was a great Braves fan, Milwaukee and Atlanta.

That must have been road games.

He was a hero for the home crowd at every game I attended at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. He was everybody's favorite player.

I was shocked when he stated years later that he had gotten threats and hate mail.
