Have seen this car at couple local shows , long time ownership , father and son have been together at both shows .The dad purchased car when was almost new if I recall . These pics from October 2022 . Sign says total 63 427 convertible production ( both single 4 barrel and R code dual quad) was 411 . Asked them about 63 1/2 and learned that only applied to fastbacks .

Always loved those repurposed and modified '56 Mercury wheelcovers they used on the 427 Galaxies in '63 and '64.

1963-1/2 does typically refer to the Fastback 2dr HT, which was a midyear introduction of a new lower and sleeker roofline that utilized the windshield from the convertible instead of the 2 and 4dr sedans. Technically the 427 engine option was a midyear change as well, supplanting the 406 around January 1963.

We’re any of the 63 406 cars multi-carb? Seems like remember reading about the early 63 406 cars but don’t recall seeing any .

----Somebody may correct me but I believe the 406 had triple Holleys.....Bill S

They were definitely tri-power , my dad bought new 62 Ford with 406 and tri-power . Just not sure if 406 was available in any other configuration . He used to say maybe those 409 Chevys were fast on the drag strip but they could not hang with the Fords on the road . Looked into and apparently 406 available single 4 barrel or tri-power in both 62 and early 63 both were 11.4 to 1 compression .

406 was introduced mid ‘62 and phased out mid ‘63. B-code 1x4bbl 385hp and G-code 3x2bbl 405hp versions were offered. The handful of ‘62 Lightweights got a special 2x4bbl version of the 406 that foreshadowed the later 2x4bbl R-code 427s. The single 4bbl 406 and 427 were primarily for NASCAR homologation (No multiple carbs) while the multiple carb versions were drag racing focused.
