Thoughts on FST carbs

I need a better carb for my 496 than the Edelbrock 800 and am looking at this FST product. 850 CFM RT X Carburetor Electric Choke Mechanical Secondary 41850X-2
My engine builder said the Edey will lean out at wot and will need a number of changes to perform well and not damage the engine. I did by a kit with jets and metering needles but would prefer a carb that "should" be easier to tune. The engine has an NOS 280H cam and 1965 396 heads that were rebuilt to stock specs...can't find the casting number right now.
Anyone have experience with FST ?
Thanks !
Found the head casting #3856206 Pistons are flat top, spec'd for zero deck with the crank and rods. Block was not surfaced.

Mitch,

I may have suggested this before, but I'd give Pro Systems a call. You can get a carb "built" around the specs of you engine. They built one for my 422" SBC and I was thrilled with it. Added to that, the A/F mixture was BANG ON when we dyno'd the combo (600hp pump gas).

To put my money where my mouth is, I may very well have them build one for my L88 and put the original 4053 on the side.

Tim, I looked at them a while ago when you brought them up and again just now and the cost is rather prohibitive for me. The FST is $460 and isn't near as big a bite out of my monthly SS payment.

Scott Perkins at SP Carburetors in Bowling Green KY. built a 850 for my 427 and when we put it on the dyno all he changed was one air bleed to get the AF just right. I think it was just over $500 and every part of it was new.
